Parking on Grey St

I'm absolutely sick to death of this wanker who parks his husqvarna dirt bike up against the ANZ wall next to the bike park on Grey St in Wellington. He aparrently works for the building manager and as part of his contract was given a license to be a c*nt to everyone. On several occasions he's left intimidating notes on all the bikes parked along side the bike park saying if they park there again they'll be towed (is it even legal for him to do this?). The Grey St bike park is overflowing with bikes every day and this idiot is making the problem worse.

On several occasions he's moved bikes that are parked up against the wall (there's about 20m of wall there but according to him only he can park there) out into the middle of the footpath (he did it this morning) and left them there where I can only assume they've been ticketed. He'd better be wearing all his gear if I ever catch him touching any of my bikes. I hope someone slashes his tyres one day. Grr.

I park in the middle of the footpath anyway.

Now while we're having a rant - the wanker with the Harley, plate ending in TUG I think, who parks in the spare space between the kerb and the disabled park. Everyone else parks carefully in with the bike facing left so you can fit two bikes side by side. But he [I assume it's a he] parks there with the bike to the right so no one but him can park there. I hope some disabled person doesn't have very good depth perception.

Yeah there are some real winners who park down there. There was some guy on an old zx10 or similar who always managed to park across about 3 bike spaces too. Oh and the guy who always parked his bike so it was millimetres away from the guy on his left.. made it real interesting trying to get out from there.

Jeepers, you are angry!! Get his numberplate so that you can find out his name and residential address. Write a well thought out letter with his full name and all his details, DOB, middle name etc and take it or post it to his address. Hopefully he'll get all worried cause someone knows too much about him and maybe he'll pull his head in.
Also i'd contact the building manager and find out if this guy's operating under their guidelines or not. Get in touch with the council parking people if you have to. Make sure that what he's doing is illegal so that way you can apply some "vigilante" justice... like moving his bike and placing notes on it. Or you could just buy a chain and chain his wheels together so he cant leave without cutting it of, give you lot a bit of a laugh!

He's got a big cable lock he locks his bike to the railing with, that's why he parks up against the wall.. That doesn't give him the right to move other peoples' bikes though. I'm sure another big cable lock would slow him down.

Yes, it would... shame I gave mine away awhile ago.... Or you could just duct tape over and over and over - over the part that he has to unlock to get the lock open. Oh this could be oh so much fun!

At the very least you guy's will get a bit of a laugh, courtesy of the wanker himself....
I should get a bailiff to see if he owes $$ on fines and get them to seize it. That'd be even nastier....

As far as I know, a commercial building's boundary ends at the front wall (the exterior of the wall to be precise). So unless this is a special case, he has no juristiction over the footpath at all.

He could ring the council and report bikes blocking the footpath though.

Its sad, really, to see bikers treating each other this way.

Yeah that's interesting about the commercial building boundary ending at the exterior wall. When parked up against the wall there's no blockage of the footpath so no grounds to call the council. He's just being a bully so that he can guarantee himself a park, and that's not on.

Yeah I have seen the guy pulling up there. There seems to be more and more bikes in that park. There is a few ZXR250s and all sorts lined up on the pavement. What I don't understand is that there are parks around that aren't as full. Try outside old bank opposite where the TAB was.

If not, I suggest bolt cutters and tie his bike to a pillar at the intercontinental. Should be moved fairly quicly from there

I've had a couple of run in's with this guy over the months. 1st time I thought he was joking & laughed. Seems he wasnt joking so I guess I was laughing AT him...tosser. He has bouts of rants & activity where for a while people park off the wall then slowly they encroach back in his precious space. Certainly if I saw him touching my bike I'd be very much pissed.
To be honest I'm not sure sure about the legals of parking there cause of those columns that allow a bike to be parked there but perhaps can be argued form the outside boundary of the building. Last time he ranted I looked him in the eye & told him "fuck off noddy" then spent the rest of the day peering out the window (I'm in the HP building opposite & have direct view) making sure no towies were parked up!
The overflowing problem is getting bigger, just a matterof being first up best dressed. If you miss a park here try around the block in Customhouse Quay outside either the Bose shop or the undie shop. Grey street bike park also fills pretty quickly.
SHIT, just looked out the window & the bike he's dragged off the wall & into the middle of the path is sitting next to mine. Means I'm gonna have to re-adjust mirrors as people have shouldered past all day...oh well!

Ahhh yeah, tis a guy here at work. I've ranted a couple of times at him to park on the angle but he just looks at me blankly. He's one of these people who rides a bike to practical reasons only, has no idea of the bike culture & just knows where to put the petrol. I'll keep working on him.
