    03 636 / 04 daytona 600

Not entirely sure if this should be in the "Online Trading" section

here are two bikes that caught my interest on Trademe

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=56120159

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=56755855

Mainly because of the price vs age, but what do you lot think of them? I read a review on
    HTML Code:
    Sportrider.com http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_0312_triumph_daytona_600/
that said the 03-04 Daytona 600 had no bottom end below 7500rpm or there abouts, making it harder to ride and then there was the lack of power. but that's in the states where they stated there were changes to the "injection curve". Has this problem been fixed in NZ?
I just want to know how they compare.

I used to ride a CBR600RR, my mate owned a Trumpy six hundy. We swapped for a weekend once, and to be honest, I got bored of it quite quickly. There is a stark difference in performance between the Trumpy and the CBR. It was an ok bike though. But if it was my money I'd go for a Trumpy 650 - or even the 675 if you can afford it. If not - for balls out performance and excitement I'd go for a CBR, and R6 or a Gixxer 600.

Saying that, if I were looking for is a step up from your current machine, I probably would go for the Triumph, as it's a bloody good bike to learn on, as it has sweet handling and is forgiving.

I love the ST though. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Did they mention how the power compares to a GN?

Anything in the 600 range is going to be a big step up from a GN250, but for all we know you might be used to riding 600cc sports bikes, so my recommendation would be to ride any prospective bikes (the more the better) and see what you think. Power is only one part of the equation when it comes to buying a new bike, ergonomics, style and a heap of other things will come in to it all as well.

One other note, Id be wary of any bike missing something like a wing mirror.

Don't worry bout the Daytona's power disadvantage, it's minimal and easily made up for with the bike's sublime handling. I had an 04 Daytona 600 with a Triumph CF pipe and it pulled away from a mate's 04 R6. It looks 10 times better than the 636 too. Just be aware of the expensive parts and how long they take to get bits into the country.

Hey dude. I know you missed the 636 but that would have been the one to get hands down. I am a bit biased having had one but it is a lot better than the triumph which for that year fell quite short of the main four jap bikes.

    Cheers guys,
I had a look at the 636 not long ago, looks like I've missed a good deal . so that's out of the picture and then the triumph is in Otago so I'm not going to figure out whether it has ergonomics over power numbers.
And yes, I'm riding something a little different from the GN at the moment, but I have yet to ride a mid sized sports bike at this stage so I'm a bit green in this respect. Though I will say that I am pissed off I didn't ride a sports 600 or 400 for that matter, before I bought my current bike .

    Thanks all the same

How expensive is expensive? Say, for things like indicators, engine side covers, foot peg hangers, bar ends, wing mirrors etc etc... or did you never have the missfortune of actually having to care about that sort of stuff?

That's why it won the IOM TT in 2003 and was regarded by most testers as the better road bike of the lot?

It's been a while so I'm abit rusty, but $104 for an indicator, bout $600 for the upper side fairing, $700 for a lower, $1200ea for nosecone and tail piece, and $1800 for a tank.

Unfortunately, I did have to care. To the tune of about $16500+

    Clicky for details...
