At the same time I agree it's not fun being put in that position...
i don't care how long she had been looking for a park, emergency braking from 50k/h to stop for a carpark is unnaceptable, and i wasn't following close, it was that it happened just over the rise and that she didn't indicate, in the .01 of a second i had to figure out what was going on, i decided to brake hard as well, when i should have just gone round her, as i did afterwards anyway

Nah mate, they should be at home cooking my dinner for when I get home from work.

My missus is a better driver than me, I don't even know how to drive. Actually she is going to teach me one day.....maybe this isn't a good idea after all?

    Cool

gamgee - you hate woman drivers..!!!!!!

But your mother is a woman and she drives a car....
    Do you hate her too?

I bet there has been a time when you have spotted a empty carpark spot at the very last minute after driving around for ages looking for a place to park... so you go for it..
It happens up here in Auckland all the time...

dont be picky crashe. If it was an indian or asian or black driver he would be flogging them instead. Its not like he rides around with a grudge against all woman, just one pissed him off and he is generalising/stereotyping.

Is that true? The reason I ask is that whenever someone is tailgating me in the car and I say to the other half, "I'm going to slam my brakes on!!", he tells me that if the guy rams me from behind, it'll be my fault cause you have to have a good reason to be stopping suddenly. So can I? Please...., cause I hate anyone I don't know up my ass.

If they do hit ya, you just say a cat or dog ran out in front...not like they can prove either way.

Either that or just pull the handbrake on slowly - usually makes them shit themself.

LoL, Thanks! Often pull the handbrake on a bit and they back off for a bit, that or slow right down and watch them go beserk at having to do 30. Geeze, I'm a bitch.

So true! watch out for any car with kids in it (or honda odessys). The chances are they are distracting the driver. And if the Baby in question is < 12 months then it's pretty much a given that the driver is suffering exhaustion / sleep deprevation.

I stand by what I said before.....however if I find myself 'interested' I should introduce myself first??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

In your case it was a parking space. It could have been a head on with the hoon coming the other way cutting the corner. Where would you have been then? 2 seconds is a minimum! in a head on or partial head on decellaration to zero is almost instantanious with no warning brake lights. If you are lucky thngs stop there, unlucky and the car you were following is coming towards you.

Think if it as a test and a wake up call and thank her for helping you hone your skills. Now ride with a good 2 second gap or more if needed.

Also remember indicators are only an indication of what may happen. There are lots of other signs a driver (or rider) is going to change direction or stop.

Why is it unacceptable? And , sorry, if you cannot stop short of an obstacle ahead of you you are too close or going too fast. What if there had been a large truck sideways across the road, backing into a driveway? Or any other obstacle. If you can't see over the brow of a hill, slow down. The road code (and common sense, too) are crystal clear on this.
