Actually. Communism says nothing about anybody being equal. that's democracy. Communism says "You do what y'r fuckin' told. Comrade. And shut up". Which is fine with me, so long as I'm the one doing the telling ! Don't mind everyone being equal either, so long as I'm more equal than the rest of you.

I dont like his politics, and I hate his political party, but Micheal Cullen is actually a realy nice bloke. Got to meet and chat to him about 10 years ago, and hes a nice guy and VERY intelligent.

And if every single budget had tax cuts in it, we'd end up paying no tax, and then our society would goto shit.. Dunno why everyones so uppity, its not like we're any WORSE off than we were before.

The only 'transformation' resulting from this budget will be a new Govt in 2008.
$76M to tell fat bastards to stop filling their faces has to be a piss-take.
Not to mention tens more millions on yet another treaty settlement.

    Ah, actually no.

Cullen has been around since long before MMP, and previously held one of the safest Labour seats in the country with a large majority - Dunedin South.

If there were no list, Cullen would still be in the house...Brash on the other hand...well he tried his luck back in the day and was denied.

If Cullen were not in the house, it would be far less amusing - love his wit!

I'm kinda like Lias, but the opposite way around (didn't pick myself saying that!). Don't mind Brash personally, but detest his party and his politics...

They are Socialists, they steal your money so that they can spend it for you on things that "they" want.
Be happy, that is what this country voted for! Perhaps you were one of their supporters.

Oh no he wouldn't. He is detested here. The prick went to a school fundraising gala where Yungatart was working the sausage sizzle - he ordered one and did not want to pay for it "Because you know who I am, don't you?". That is not the action of an intelligent, responsible adult. He did not get his sausage for free cos Yungatart was not scared of him. Fuckn tosser.

    Hey genius,
Yes we are overtaxed, If you add it all up, the minium wage earner has to pay around 40-50% tax and that rate only goes up the more you earn. But you have to ask "why are we over taxed?" Becasue we are over benifitted with benifits that encourage not getting off the government free ride. Im all for less benifits and less tax. You cannot have the ammount of benifits that new zealand has AND have tax cuts too.

$9 billion surplus? YEAH RIGHT! Do you know how much NZ owes to other countrys? That 9 billion is just the ammount of money they didnt spend last year. It IS NOT 9 BILLION THEY HAVE SITTING IN THERE BACK POCKETS.

    Like I said, Grow up.

I have many extreem views on solving tax cuts, magua will agree with me that my ideas are over the top but heres one just for you.

TAX/ PRISON OVERCROWDING SOULTIONS PART ONE

    The current problem
We are paying to much tax to fix roads and prisons are over crowed and prisons/sentances are too soft

    The soultion
    Chain Gangs
If you take the ammount of prisoners in jail today and formed a chain gang that would build motorways/ roads. You could dubble the ammount of people you can fit in one prison. How? well you would have 2 teams working 12 hr shifts, when one team is finished there shift they would go back to jail and be replaced by the other team. One team would be in jail while the others work, rotating it around every 12 hrs would mean dubble the ammount of inmates a prison can hold.

Now to make the prisoner work you need officers with guns, lots of guns, everyday they would excute one person just to show them who is boss. The least productve inmate would be gone each day untill they learn to get to work. In the same way you would stop any inmates running away.

But if the inmates are doing all the construction work, our massive roadworks industry will be gone! - who do you think will be holding the guns? They will still have to be there to make sure the work the inmate does is up to spec, but the projects will take a lot less time with the extra ammmount of workers that they get. Which means if they dont have to pay workers the cost of the project will come down, while the time taken to complete the project reduces there fore REDUCING TAX.

But if you do all that the number of prisoners will drop as you will be shooting to many of them.
True, For this plan to be fully working as effiecntly as possable you would need to have tougher sentances, for example, say you get caught stealing instantly you get a 2 week streetch on the chain gang, when you have completed your time would you go an steal again? Unlikely. If more people were put onto a plan like this they would not commit the crime and as the government pays for crime stopping / court TAX WOULD BE REDUCIED.
With a system like this sentances will be shorter as the experiance is hardkore (yes with a K) meaning more reformed prisoners and a better soicity. Inmates will also gain a life skill to get them off the dole.

There is much much more ideas that I have, and they will never ever become anything more than pipe dreams, but Oh what dreams - imgaine never having to lock up your house/car/bike....

I have a vauge recollection about something Labour said in their first term about no new taxes.

Anyone remember what the process was when the first anti-smoking leglisation was introduced. I don't remember the actual sequence but went something like. Resturants set aside non-smoking area, then the next step was work places, then the next step was all resturants, then the next step was pubs and RSAs, and now the debate is public places.

    hmmmmm....

Anyone notice a NEW capital gains tax???
