    Smile New Bikes

Tine to celebrate the wedding anniversary. What better than with a 'his and hers' round of bikes.

That will be a new bright red z1000 for him and a very near new black SV 250 for her (and him now and then!).

Sawyers did all the right things (I can recommend them highly) and we picked the bikes up this morning. Then off to Wairarapa to get some k's on the red zed. It sure is tough trying to stay under 4k on the rev counter! We had a great afternoon - wram and dry roads and, except for the hill, little traffic.

The SV250 had been traded against a 2004 Fireblade and comes with a very loud Neptune exhaust - my last remaining teenager thinks it is way cool. Less than 2k on the clock.

I had wanted an orange Z1000 but they are no longer available. However, when I saw the red one I was sold.

    Let the fun commence.

Just one sad part to the story. I have sold the VFR 750 which I have had form new (in 1997). Completely reliable, comfortable and I loved it. But it has gone to a very good new home in Lower Hutt and I will get to see it from time to time.

Drool - the new Z1000... congrats on your excellent taste.

    enjoy the new rides Airplane.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Thumbs up

I looked that red z1000 over yesterday- choice bike. Don't they look irresistable fresh out of the crate. Just waiting to be nursed, then thrashed. Have a look sometime at the mods Nick - who works at Motorad, has done to his orange z1000. Chatted with the guy up the Rimutaka hill today who got the first orange one they sold. He's got a pair of frowning eyes on the black fly screen. What a way to have a happy anniversary.

He loves it, he had a TL1000S before that.

Hi "Airplane", and welcome to the site!! You didn't tell me the bikes were anniversary presents - good stuff!! Ours is in October, so I'll suggest to Hamish we do the same - I'll have 40,000kms on the 800 by then, and he can trade the GS1200SS on a new GSXR750. Thanks for the idea!!

Seriously though, am glad you like the red. Will have to catch up some time soon.

Airplane: don't mean to be picky, but shouldn't your bike read Z 1000 2004?

We are both former Hawkes Bay folk (with plenty of friends and relativesthere) and expect to be visiting the Bay on the bikes in the near future. That means the 'tukas, SH2 to takapau, SH 50 to Onga Onga then across to Waipawa and up Middle Rd. Would be nice to add Napier Taupo as well; that's a very good ride.

February 28 is a bit of a wait for an anniversary present. Maybe a Mean Streak and a ZZR1200? Might as well go the whole Kawasaki hog...

Hi Airplane. Saw you twice on Sunday mng. We were at Caltex both times (got there early for a ride). You were heading nth, then came back south.

The red is a lovely colour, it looks great.
