    Coromandel accident?

Is anyone aware of an accident on Saturday 2 or 3 km north of the Thames Yacht Club? Our neighbour at Coromandel came up from Thames late Sat morning and said that a number of bikes were parked on the roadside and an ambulance was present. There was also an articulated truck parked up but he couldn't see what had happened. Haven't seen any reports but sincerely hope things aren't too bad for those involved.

Cheers - not good, but could have been much more serious.

He is a mate of mine, has a compound fracture and 3 months on his hands to do nothing with.
He has no other injuries other than his leg and a very deflated ego, thanks to his gear.
Only had the bike a few weeks and is now going to sell the bike when things are patched up. (told him to let the dust settle first). Wife says NO!!!
He has not had a bike in a few years and said inexperiance was the main problem, was going into a corner realised it was a bit damp and stood the bike up a bit, by this time he was running out of road and to get around just layed it down too much and lost the front end and slid with bike on his leg.
Bike not too bad, rear wheel not good, other cosmetic damage.
Apparently the ambo officer was easing his woes telling him that he rode bikes and had a couple of offs as well.
So there could be a low mileage 1200r for sale soon.

    All the best to him.

Thanks for that - always a real worry when a fellow rider goes down and please pass on my good wishes for a full recovery. I often ride that road in the dark on a Friday night and it's pretty unforgiving. As a matter of fact, I wrote off the family Subaru on the same corner 2 years ago when we hit diesel and 2 other cars came to grief that night.
