    Unhappy Biker Down - Birkenhead/Northcote.

Some time before 8 this morning, a biker (older silver Suzuki?) was skittled on Onewa Road. Must've been serious, judging by the number of people helping him out. He seemed to have been turfed off the bike and onto the verge / into the hedge. Not good.

Just after that, some dumb-arse on a Kawasaki GPZ passes me. Fair enough, and he was in control, as he split to the outside then sat in the RH lane. But (however!) when I split up the middle, his pecker shrank (I could hear it, I tellsya!) and he went roaring down the outside, into oncoming traffic, to prove his manhood.
Either he didn't see the crashed bike, or he had no imagination / commonsense.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yeah I saw that this morning... (I watch all the bikes go past while I'm waiting for my bus)... Accident happened between 8.05am and 8.15am, as the silver non fairing bike went past the top of Onewa Rd at about 8.05am.

By the time I went past the incident on the bus, the biker was on his feet with 2 cops cars in attendance. Hopefully he is ok and his bike isn't too munted...

As anyone who rides up onewa rd can confirm... when travelling in the bus lane WATCH out for cars turning into the side streets to cut the traffic... I've nearly been taken out in that bus lane at least 6 times... and I've watched it happen to numerous other bikes and cars...

    Thanx for the update, Tammy!
If he was on his feet, then it can't have been too bad. When I went past, they must've been still assessing him.
That intersection is bad - you can't see if cars are turning right due to the cars being so close to the intersection. If you slow down to look and see what's there, half the time the f'wit drivers decide you're letting them in and go.
I hate D'Aucklanders' bad driving habits (and not just car drivers - ALL vehicles, including bikes, and even pedestrians!), and they seem to be getting worse almost by the day.
Oh for a vehicle with ground-to-ground missiles!
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    onewa

i never go down onewa in the morning - i always head down Sylvan and meet Onewa at the very bottom. Much less testosterone at play and easier to jump to the front.
I often see a black/teal CBR400 there (i wonder if the rider is a KBer)- i'm on the wierdo orange and black old school yamaha SR500 thing.

I've never seen you, apart from that one time on Ponsonby Road.
And soon, I won't see any of you on Onewa - I'm starting a new job in Albany.

Nah, this is the (other) man with no shame!!

Mind you, I'm pretty glad to hear it wasn't our favourite motorcycling tranny involved this morning, or anyone else from here.

I'm with you on that. Bugger Onewa.
Exmouth and Sylvan have less traffic and some nice corners.

I've seen the guy on red/black NSR nearly every morning (if its the same one... he has a semi full faced helmet... well it has a huge visor... like a scooter helmet)... There is also a chick who rides a red/black honda, up Onewa Rd. This morning I only saw the chick... might be her you are talking about...

lol, no i don't think it is you... the scooter helmet guy rides a 400. it took me about a week to figure out if it was a 250 (which I was sure it was) and then one day he rode past and no cars blocked my view and I saw "400" on the tail fairing bit... your bike is a 1000cc right?

I also see a guy on a green/white ZXR ride past each morning, and i've seen Vifferman ride past a few times... and then a bunch of cruisers...

Can you tell I like bikes? lol

    Onewa Road crash?

Anyone heard anything about a crash just off Onewa Road in Northcote this morning? I passed by on my way to work about 8:45 and there was a bike on it's side in the gutter on a side street just off Onewa right near the BP station. There was no ambulance there, but there were three or four cops and they had the area coned off - it didn't look nice, and there was no sign of the rider.

I always hate to see that stuff, so much more so when I'm riding past it.
