    Actually no, because of the type of resin used(polyplex 3089) its very brittle so choppy wouldnt last long,and yeah its cheaper but why cut corners, by using the double bias the cover can be flexed to fit around the exhaust whille mataining the integrity of the resin also a 450g choppy vs a 400g double bias you do the math, heaver and weaker or lighter and stronger my new cover weighs 1/3 of the weight of the factory spec one, also if the layup is to thin when you attach it to the muffler you would find yourself crushing it before the srews were tight, i could probably still improve on the lay up but at the time it was what i had lyaing round the garage
