Oooooh. not good. What caused the problem - worn tyre or bad road?

    Hope you're okay.

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Nerves Shot, pants need changing....its amazing how well hedges can act as airbags !!!.

Filthy great screw about 3 inches long and 1/8 inch diameter with a very sharp point (went through the tyre and out the side wall)

OMG, how scary, I hope you get yourself checked out by a dr, you need to make sure nothing is broken, and get an acc form filled out justi n case, this is quite important as broken bone fragments can cause trouble years later and cost heaps in cat scans etc. I hope your bike isn't too badly damaged, I'll be checking my tyres over each time I ride from now on, cheers L

I know the feeling, i was riding along one day, thankfully only doing around 50k, when my rear tyre let go. Went totally flat, but strange thing was it had no puncture, seemed that the bead just let go. I reinflated the tyre and after a week of so of catious riding I never had any trouble with it for the rest of its life...... wierd!!

    There is something about silence...

I know that when there is an accident and you hear the bang and a bit of noise (often arguing) - it's minor and people are trying to deal with it ... often beating the crap out of each other, or talking about it, but they are dealing with it...

It's when you hear that crunch noise followed by nothing.........

That gets me every time !

    Hope you're ok dude.

Dragged this from another site that I post on.

Sometimes Lady Luck is out there looking after us all. On this occsion seems she and my guardian angel were of one mind.

I had known for some time that the Drake needed a new set rubbers but as he was being shimmed that took a little longer than anticpated his legs were neglected a tad. When I got him back I went for wee ride up to Hamner (hot pools) and then up to Reefton (town of light) and back home a trip of about 566k's (351miles). With winter coming on thought it would a good time to give the Drake a new set of shoes. When I got back to the shop after the new wheels had been fitted I saw my old rear tyre. About a third of the circumference of the wheel had the canvass showing. Scared the heebejebees out of me that's for sure. To think that I had unwittingly travelled over 500 k's on this wheel left me a little cold to say the least. Offered a little prayer to Lady Luck and excused myself for not wanting to rely on her in the future. Think she understood.

Guess she blinked somewhere. But then Brit_VTR if it had been the front......???????? Perhaps she was just giving you a warning. She's one lady you can not rely on.

Holy shit mate. I agree about getting yourself checked out by a Dr. And hows the bike?

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

Being basically round in shape and having good gear saved the day, sprained wrist....but the worst damage was to my pride (us 40 year old Rossi wannbe's dont have too much of that).

Well new front fairing, R.H.S rad & fan and some minor other parts was all thats needed....so 2 days of "sick" (damned uncle died ...again), shes all back together...also took the opportunity to fit new disks and pads and revalve the front shocks.

Gotta go back to work tommorrow to pay for it all

Thanks to all for your wishes.........Kiwi's & Kiwi Biker folk much friendlier than most people here !!.
