Ummmm, well the '87 GF250 was a little different to the '03 GSXR1000. Nuf said.

No problems with it, just the passing abilities aren't quite what I'm used to, the suspension is pretty soft (mind you, I am a fat cunt), and the seat would resemble a 4x2 after more than 30 minutes.... just the usual 250 stuff. Plus the annoying red light that comes on at 100k's+ (first time I've seen that on a bike), had me really concerned until I got back from the test ride and he told me what it was!

Oh, and watch that front tyre, it's seen better days.

Might pop down on sunday arvo if it's fine. Should be out your way about 4ish.

and for those of you that care to know - It is an inline four... bout as fast as a cbr/zxr up to the 110kmh mark then it sorta runs outta grunt, probably better for going up hills without having to rape it as much.

Least now i have someone to give all the old GF250 parts too... have a pack rack for it too!

2much - the suspension isnt soft, its fucked... told the guy it needed rebuilding when i sold it too him. Seems as if he's had the running problems sorted out though, it was smoking a bit when i sold it too him and a bit underpowered too, did you notice anything like that?

Aff - he's probably still running the tyres it had when i gave it too him... lots of tread, but old as fuck. Would pay to put some Bridgestone Cyrox's on it, and probably check the steering head bearings. These things handle mint when setup properly so its worth doing the work.

oh well it's her loss. Thought it looked familiar.

But yeh he has spent the dough on it.

Send me a PM about any parts ya have for it and we'll see if we can sort something out..

I wanna ride it back to see how she handels before I let the girlie have a go.

Front forks weren't too bad, just abit of stiction (some adjustment too which impressed me), the rear was pretty tired. Smoked about as much as I would expect from a 250 with over 50000k's on it (admittedly, due to time restrictions, I looked at it at night which wasn't ideal).

Underpowered? Mate I ride a GSXR1000, what the fuck do you think?

Rear was an old-school Pirelli Strada, front was old so didn't look. Steering head bearing felt fine (doubt it's been doing too many wheelies) and the handling felt like it could be a fun bike.

I was a bit gutted to hear this yesterday from Aff, but life goes on. I've only just got to the point where it's really practical for me to get a bike (read: my parents won't throw me out of the house because of it) and I get a paint job into the bargain so it's not all bad. Would have been nice to get it straight from you but hey, life goes on.

Out of interest...how funny is the suspension? Awful? Just a bit bad?

one night i was riding along a twisty back road to my mates house and some dude started tailgating me in a massive 4x4... i though feck it and picked up the pace and got away from him only to go into some unmarked road works at about 70+kmh, front went over a pot hole and back went into it, thought i'd blown out the rear tyre

Changed that shock out for a spare one i had. Wasn't that much better but atleast it wasnt leaking. Basically aslong as you dont let jono go taking it on country roads at 140kmh+ it will be fine. Just sits a few cm lower in the back than it should do - i was nearly 100kg at the time so it shouldnt be a problem with you on it.
