Best place for insurance?

Well.. i got the GN whoop whoop lol, now i just need riding gear (anyone had experience with dririder gear?..looking at the urban jacket) AND insurance...where's the best insurance place for a learner rider? at the moment i have a lowest quote of about $250 for a year...

$250 doesn't sound too bad, but get in touch with Kiwibike.
Gotta be the best agent around I reckon. My current insurance company quoted my $3500pa after I've been insured with them for many years and have never made a claim and have no demerits.
Kiwibike has got me the same cover for less than $800pa.

I heard Dririder gear is pretty shit hot .. but thats from ozzies so you cant tell if there drunk or not when they say that.. as for insurance, I too am with kiwibike, my last year I paid a grand for full coverage, this year with a few demerits and no claims I was down to 750$ so a pretty good cut. I recommend them..

my friend reckons he got full coverage for 150$ from somewhere.. but who knows how good they are eh.. stick with brands you know and youll be right!

$250 for insurance for an inexperienced rider is pretty good. Thats only slightly more than 10% of the bike's value.

Dririder gear will keep you warm and relatively dry for the ride between Timaru and Makihihi. I do know that on a west coast ride with our club that the riders with Dririder did start getting wet after three hours in torrential rain while cruising at a fairly high speed. Us riders in leather arrived still dry. But the next morning the ones with Dririder were putting on dry gear, the riders in leathers were putting on gear that was still holding a lot of moisture, and hence took longer to warm up.

Ok.... this is all really strange.... State gave me FULL cover for $250 on my fxr150 and $220 on the 125cc scooter per year. and that's for both me and my girlfriend and we are both learners.....

Yeah that's nothing too spectacular deal-wise, bear in mind once you get over the litre mark and into the higher value bikes, especially the ones sought after by thieves, you start to get stung with some pretty high premiums. Hence my being happy about $800.
Not intending to "deride your ride" but when you weigh up cc vs. cc, bike value vs. bike value and desirability vs. desirability I reckon my $800 still holds up pretty well against your $250.
But $20 a month is still very good in any language.

I think i'll pop in to the bike shop and have another look at the leathers, but for something I like, I think it'd b quite a bit $$'z wise..(I know, I know... it's not all about the look? right )
On the other topic of insurance. State, won't touch me with a barge pole...something about..no previous insurance, no *car* licence and not having anything else insured with them......(think they might also have a thing about insuring 17 y/o'z ....-_-' stupid sterotyping...we're not all out there to do 140km/h n generally be dangerous, unstable people!) anyway, In the absence of a better price, $250 seems reasonable.

Yeah State are wankers. So are Tower. AA Insurance won't insure my bike at all. So they are wankers too.
I think $250 for a 17 year old learner is pretty shit hot actually. Obviously not through any of the above.
