    Crap road repairs

Haven't spotted a thread about this but...

Anyone else had to experience the terrible attempt at repairing the road between Riverhead and Kaukop? That left hander heading north just around the forest that was quite corrugated, has been "repaired". Its now worse than it was before! At least it used to have a line through it previously!

1km up the road there's more. Its like they've just tipped hotmix onto it but haven't bothered to flatten it out!

Is that the Rodney District Council who look after that area?

I know the corner you mean and it's a fucking horror now. It was always a bit pox but now it is just dangerous on a bike.

Also beware the repairs at the bottom of the hill coming off the Hunuas at the corner where it turns left to Hotel DeVin - completely lost the front end of the buell on it yesterday. With dual sport tyres too.
Just at the intersection - there is a completely invisible 'pool' of loose pea gravel right where you pull up. I hit it a 5kph going straigh ahead under soft brakes and had a huge moment. It's that slippery and completely undetectable.

I came within a bees dick of 2 in 2 days.

And also the bends just out of Wahi heading north, I just gently tipped into the right hander and both ends let go. My end damn near let go too.
OK, it was wet. But that was just stoopid.

I dont think it's specific to your area only. All over the B.O.P is the same crappy seal repairs. Ive seen the WORKS wankers digging up perfectly good pieces of road & turn them to bumpy crappy, shitty peices of road when another 20 meters up is the crappy bumpy bit they should have re-sealed. WTF? It's ridiculous.

Well it's a lot easier to clean your undies than fix your bike.

Sometimes I see them do a totaly crap seal repair, and then a few weeks later it gets a proper tarseal...I'm not sure if they are fixing a fuck up,or if that's how they do it - repair the sub layer and cap it,then a proper job once it's settled? Rosscommon Rd is the latest one that got that treatment.

I once had a road engineer on about how they repaired a perfectly sound piece of road, when a spot not far away was in a hell of a state. He explained how the good looking piece of road had sub surface problems that needed to be fixed urgently, while the nasty looking surface was not really an issue and could be dealt with at a later stage....he knew squat about his car I was fixing,we all have our little area of expertise....
