Slowpoke: there's an 03 KTM 640SM in the latest bikemart for $8k something which is a pretty good price.

    Cheers

I have an 'o2 KTM LC4 supermoto and it was a brilliant bike. should never have sold it.

Any more details, Clint? By "bikemart" do you mean "Motorcycle Trader"? I thought I'd pretty much worn the bugger out lookin' through it....I'll have to have yet another squiz through it!

i think this may be my next bike.
the husabergs are too much maintenance for a road bike - just like the CRF450 - that supermoto Aprilia looks the cat's pyjamas.

Looks like the Aprillia is very strangled off the shop floor.
    Around 34-40Hp.
UnCorked is another matter entirely but voids the warranty.

Cheers Alex, not meaning to brag or show off but that is a very valid point. I have posted it in a couple of occasions in the past. You don't actually need a purpose built motard to just have fun on. Unless you are racing, even standard brakes are enough to do the job and even with good knobblies (big chunky mud ones) it is still enough to go around corners pretty damn quick in! My mates told me my knee was about 6 inches from the ground while cornering a stock standard 1996 XR600R with knobblies... That goes the same for the wet.. That is because the big chunky pieces of rubber on the knobblies actually generate a lot more heat than road tires when you really push them hard. Therefore even with lesser foot print, the higher stickiness from the hotter knobblies still provide significant amount of grip. If you don't trust me on that one, you can always chuck a road tire that fits the original rim..

I reckon unless you are racing or riding with some very fast road riders, even just a big bore trail bike is enough to have fun on the road with. Then again, that's if you don't have the extra money to spend on a bike. If you can afford a proper KTM big bore bad boy with all the trick bits then go for it!

Yes, on that 22 ride, I did fukin go around the outside of you on your TL!! That's why you gave me a free Pizza remeber?! It was your first group ride and yes now you are some sort of a riding god with your own little minions running around but back then you weren't all THAT quick... On the next outing when I was trying to see if I could catchup in the wet through Whanga - Waihi way is when I crashed when trying way too hard on Knobblies..

Oooops, sorry dude, I didn't mean to blaspheme!! (I just saw where you work, haha)
I just had a look at the spec's on a KTM 640...man those things are built Harley-heavy (136kg's)! I guess they would be a great dual purpose adventure tourer type thing but it would be a handful trying to roost around a paddock. It is the right price though....

It's the 525 EXC-R that comes with the road kit. You can also have the 450 if you like. The 525 sells at $14,990 or the 450 for $14,490. Call Heytrack on 09 274 9095 and they'll tell you where you can get one.
