    1996 CR250 price

I have been thinking of buying a 1996 CR250 on trademe no resever, start bid
$2750 is that a good price or would you think too much, if the engine needs a rebuild would it cost much. can't make up my mined if I should just go for it or not. just want it for myself, just to hoon around on and go riding with me kids.

The 96 is one of the best CR engines, the port size are perfect ( according to eric gorr ) and are very hard to find ( especially the barrels )
I am not sure about Nz pricing, but its a good bike.

The engines are dead simple ( except the exhaust valve timing ,,can be a bit tricky )

I can give you the Jap prices for spares you require, the last engine I rebuilt cast about 10 000 yen fr all replacables, bearings seals , rings etc ..

My ( completely unbiased opinion is go for it ,,,and go to the nearest track and spayank the byitch ,,,the grin you have at bthe end of the day will be permanent !!!!)

    Stephen

Worth while respringing, and adding a shim to the suspension to suit your wieght if you start getting air time or she will bite a bit !!

As long as all it needs is a rebuild, it looks pretty good to me.

Get a piston kit of eBay, so cheap!!

Should be able to sort out the piston and ring yourself. You'll save a few hundred bucks in labour

Not sure of the price. Im guessing that honda cr's go for alot more then suzuki rm's. Cos I just bought a 97 RM 250 for 1500 which had just had the rings etc done. Either that or I got a cheap buy.

Good luck with getting a bike anyway.

Yea took a while to find a bike tho. Always keep the eye out for extra bikes when the price is right . Only problem is now I have too bloody many and no place to put them.
