    True, but...

The ciggy company would be opening themselves to a breach of the above mentioned law if they paid WINJA to paint his bike in their colours. Unless WINJA was selling the ciggies himself he wouldn't be liable for breach.

Why not approach Ansell and get a Durex sponsorship. Nice and safe, you might even get a full-body rain suit out of it.

I wouldn't mind being sponsored by Durex. Would be quite a laugh actually, and very off-putting to your competitors, at least until it becomes common.

Not so sure if motorcycling is the safe and healthy image they want though.

I see there are a few bikes around paint schemes of tobacco giants. I agree that no one should be able to tell someone else what they cannot ut on their private vehicle. I reckon go for it, although if you think smoking is cool, then your slightly warped WINJA.

You should be able to get whatever big corporate to go for it fairly easily. You can guarantee them national TV coverage on Police Ten-7 and Motorway Patrol, and if you're really good/crazy you might make the national news programs. Just try and do it in the morning so they've got time to edit out the bits that cops do right before the 6 o'clock news.

And regarding the Subbie 555 team, there were two paint schemes that differed slightly if I recall. One was 555 which was british american tobacco, and the other was more of a stylised SSS type look which at 180k sideways down a gravel road could very easily be confused for 555.

Yeah, like BAR in Formula One did - British American Racing. Wonder where the British American came from since there's bugger all american's anywhere near real motorsport!

Wow, I'm sure one of the locals down here would be interested to know that his Rizla paint job on his gixxer thou is illegal!!

Hmm, what about the factory Rothmans Honda (NSR, VFR), I'm sure the govt made it illegal to sell those bikes too.

Go for it WINJA, but go Rizla or Lucky Strike.

I think I got a raw deal. I even have to pay for gas as well. They said when I learnt how to ride properly they may up the sponsorship.

In the meantime, all my bikes are courier vehicles according to the IRD. Even the dirt bike and it's not even road registered. Thanks Helen.
