Given that Gull appears to be pumping gas at exactly the same prices as everybody else, I think there is a very strong chance that their products come from the same place.

Hey quackquack I've recently switched to BP98 and I've noticed much better performance and fuel economy as well.

Mine runs like a dog on 91.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Better yet: Pass them onto fair go as well.

Good work on the figures too.
I like the "Fair Go" idea (even if their attempts at humour suck). Might be a good opportunity for some +ve biking messages to be put across too?

Will you be doing Caltex too?
Definitely looks like BP is the go, but for me it's bit out of the way. But Caltex I ride past daily as well as Shell. Used to ride passed Mobil too but I think Mobil itself is closing down and exiting NZ because all Mobil outlets that I know are now closed.

The bike actually runs nicer on 91 than 95. 95 is a bit rough in the midrange with a more pronounced loss of power in the factory designed lean rpm range.

Yep. I'm doing the easily located ones first. Caltex is in odd places around Wellington.

We certainly aren't experiencing closing Mobil stations though. Are you sure they aren't closing because the Service Station operators can't afford to replace their storage tanks?

I like those figures because it validates a "feeling" i had that both my vehicles prefer BP over Shell (my two nearest fill-ups)..... I guess if you can get motorists using more gas per km/hr then it's good for business - until some smart-arse comes along and works it out.

Of course shell wouldn't do that on purpose now....would they?

    Go to hell? Go shell.....

Seems strange to me that the bp figures are all the same (if you averaged it out you would get 1 result...)

    Did you try bp98?

Sorry renegade, I explained in an earlier post why I averaged. I was on leave the week I did those three tanks and the stations I visited didn't give receipts with the litres purchased detailed..

It was a bit of a bugger because it makes the figures look dodgy. Sorry about that.

No worries, Its good your keeping record.

I fill up with (any) 91 and always get 200kms per tank (20L tank :O) i'll fill up with 98 as soon as I get payed and see if that makes a differance, then work out if paying that little bit more for the extra km is cheaper than paying for the cheaper gas....

    what the hell.

    I just worked it out (1.76 for 91 and 1.86 for 98 - can someone check that?) and 20L at 1.76 = $35 and 20L at 1.86 = $37!

THATS ONLY $2 bucks YOU CHEAP BASTERDS!
