    My 5c...

Being mentored has some requirements. You need to show up, you need to be prepared to learn and you need to be able to communicate. This ain't no public service on offer - it takes involvement from both sides and if I show up and you don't... I have this tendency to get annoyed after the first time.

Don't be scared to ask questions. I'm happy to answer the same thing 10 times if it keeps you alive. I would prefer not to... but some things take time, and I understand that some answers may not make sense when you first hear them

As an example - want to turn right in a hurry... push (yes... I said push) on the right hand handlebar, wait for the bike to drop to the right then ride it round the corner.

"Book learning" will get you a licence... "hands on learning" will keep you alive, help you get from A to B, and help you enjoy the scenery along the way

Excellent idea Quasi, whenever it started. Pity it isn't more widely known, although this may help.

Sort of like a longer term learner ride with working on the bike as well. We could see heaps of improvement in the learners after even one ride, so it is really a worthwhile idea. Even if we save one person, its worth it.

Unfortunately I don't even come close to having enough experience or skill to help... but maybe in a few years

I can drive a 4WD on the left side of you cutting closer and closer on a right hand corner. Might give you some incentive to turn better? j/k

Great idea Quasi - MSTRS has (along with a few others) been mentoring me on the bike for a few months - or more, so, while I don't need another mentor, I can see how valuable this is. All you newbies out there, put your hands up for some help - and you get a t-shirt thrown in.

Ah, I'm very, very slightly past that stage now. I just want to get as comfortable with my right handers as I am with my left hand side cornering.
