Ha. I just put a new set of clutch plates in and changed my oil while I was at it. After I drained the oil I put the sump plug in just two threads so I wouldn't lose it and forgot to tighten it. Finnished the job took it round the block and the plug fell out just as returned about 20m from home. A big low speed drift and 4L of brand new synthetic oil on the garage floor plus a trail of it leading back to the road. Still I guess it could have been a whole lot worse though!

NEVER never leave such items 'just on' i.e. wheel nuts, sump plugs etc.

Always leave the sump plug with the ignition keys when it is out - or on the dash/instrument panel etc until it is put back AND fully tightened.

You got off pretty light THIS time.!!!

Obviously the bitch needs to be punished for that, otherwise she'll never learn.

Fill her up with used fish and chip oil and 70 octane, Redline her until sparks come out of the exhaust, then shoot petrol at her exhaust headers with a super soaker.

It happens....

I have a piece of plastic left over from making racing numberplates with NO OIL in big letters that goes on the dash while draining oil etc...

Last week i was changing the oil and filter on the Moto guzzi. The filter in inside the sump so it's a drama of messy proportions and I was definately NOT in the mood for it...

I managed to get the sump up onto the block and was just going to go get a coffee when... hmmm.... oil filter sitting on the seat still.... d'oh! Mutter grumble mutter...

Hard luck mate... Yep.. you were definately very lucky! Wont forget in a hurry now will ya! I've been in the same situation (Not oil though).. hadn't tighten something up enough.. and it was working looooooose.. luckily for me it didn't come off! and a mate picked up on it.. THANX Sensei!!! If not I might have been very.. er.. um.. dead!

Many years ago, when a student at Massey, I left my radiator cap half off (Toyota Corona) at a petrol station after filling with water. I don't even know why anymore. Then got distracted when I found my EFTPOS card was back in the hostel... (pain ensues).

So then I drove from Palmy to Danniverke. The last few km's to Danniverke I was being towed by the local cop.

A few months ago I met a guy outside Richards' Motorcycles in J'Ville, hoping to get an oil filler cap. He had yelled at some kids outside McDonalds who were touching his GSXR. Later when he rode off his handling went funny. He found the kids had taken off his oil filler cap, and oil was all over his back tyre.

I'm just glad you and he did not get injured.

Nice move putting bits with the keys.

I have a tray stuff goes on if it's not attached to the bike, or it get's attached properly as soon as it hits the bike. All or nothin'

At the end, if the tray's empty, I'm a happy camper
