An old Rimutaka has been on a crusty 17 year old bike shouldn't give you too many problems eh, I spose the 1st and last of you I'll see is when you are wheelieing out of the twin bridges rise onto those fast straight bits at the bottom, see I've already bought out the excuse book.
Would it be considered cheating if I bought the 9 along in the van?

For that matter, I wouldn't mind trying out the KX500 Motard bike while I'm at it!

Turns out my original jetting guesses were right, I ended up tracing the bike hitting a wall at 8k to the valve clearances tightening up in pot number 2, and all it took was over ten tests/test rides taking the seat tank n shit off and dicking with carbs n electrics and air filters right through that night.
The shocks coming out tomorrow for it's 1st rebuild, gotta love old bikes hehe
I enjoy riding it though, so I'm looking forward to finally getting on it when it is fully sorted for the 1st time since buying it.
It will be fun to see just what the old girl can do.

Sorry to hear you gave your Suzy carpet burns Jim-bob. Bit scary really, me a friend had gone out the back way to Pahaitua from Alfredton & stopped a little long for a feed & realised the sun was sinking so we made a B line for home as fast as we were prepared to travel on a long weekend (only to be humiliatingly passed by some HoglyDogly riders, but I’m guessing these particular fellows have an understanding with the Police).

So we get to the hill & have a rather spirited crossing to get through before we lose all light, dark visors up & all that. But pouring poo on the ground could have taken anyone off & is hard to see in the twilight. Maybe enough cars had cleaned most of it.

At times of the year the SI looks like it is connected by brown stains. Well if we do ever get CJD or Foot & mouth here we are doing our best to spread it far & wide aren’t we?

& Little Johnny get $4 for cleaning the car after a trip in the country, what is he cleaning off?

It's worse than that... those who know me now know I haven't driven a car "fast" in years, so it's debatable if I can drive anymore either...

Well, it's not possible for either of these two diseases to be spread by effluent, but your point may apply to a few other animal diseases and zoonoses.

Damn Jimbo, Sorry to hear dude. To think I'd only just laid eyes on the beast hours before.

I hope your fairing pricing is better than mine.
I replaced my left hand side tail at $300. and Wellington motorcycles quoted me $900 for a 1/2 piece of the main left hand side body fairing.
I was thinking the fairings are freakin expensive. Hope the 600 is a different story.
Anyway, there's alot less fairing on the 600 thankfully.

Be sure to check out ebay though, I brought pretty much all my replacement parts from ebay when I had my crash at Manfield.
There are heaps of race teams in the US stripping down new bikes and swinging the fairings on trademe. Be sure to check out some sliders too.

Fatjim - You're a farkin wanker! I was so down when you said Uncle B had crashed my bike, that even when he turned up on it fine, I was still feeling down!
Perhaps Fatjim, You'd like some mentoring on how to get your kneedown, bitch!

Uncle B - Whats with the "Bling on Biscuit thin tyres?" Let's not turn this into a 180 vs 190 thread! Otherwise we'll be here so long, you'll have turned to dust while I'll be putting on the ole alpinestars!

Goodcall MD, Ditch those BT's Jimbo.

Also, For the short-term..... My money is on the Zen Master on his 9! See ya at Manfield for round 2 (17th).

I wouldn't have wasted any time feeling sorry for myself. After all you'd be OK and Fatjim would still be, well, fat!

Bloody fuck how much for plastic??? Insurance are paying anyway mate so I don't care where the parts come from.

I'll definately be getting different tyres and frame sliders when the bike is back on the road.

I had to make the most of the situation, it's not often I beat the Bruce up the hill.

Indeed, it is not often. I did feel sorry for the cagers you bardged your way past just to beat me up the hill. I was just hanging back and watching the show.

Wish I was there to see the look on Dafe's face.
