No wonder they sound bored on the phone.

But seriously, Orcon's DNS servers are ferked.

I can't do an NSlookup, and half the freaking Internet doesn;t work (for me), so could someone from any other ISP post their DNS server's IP addresses please?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I was going to say 'They won't let you recurse!' but then I tested it, and 'lo', Iconz' dns server will let you recurse even if you are on paradise cable.

Hey ahh, just a thought. What's your packet loss like to then DNS servers? DNS queries being udp*, they may just be getting lost.

*Yes yes, I know, zone transfers, blah blah, I know

I've progressively turned my router into a sieve trying to work throughthis one, and it's getting annoying. Orcon's zone/domain seems to be utterly off air. Most ISPs have recursive lookups on - business thing.

Thank you Saslex - I'll give that a shot and see what happens.

Orcon obviously aren't forwarding DNS calls from their internal zone.

They won't answer emails. I think the helpdesk chicks must have the long weekend off.

Maybe there is a strike/earthquake in India as thats where most calls end up these days!

or they have taken a lesson from telecom and found that even with shit service you can post record profits year after year

Or for the really good ol' days when the only problem was when Mavis down at the exchange had just brewed up and was settling into a good old gossip with Edna from the general store. ("Ged off yr arse y'daft cow an plug me in, will ya!")
