    RS250 Rebuild prices?

Howdi, considering an rs250 for me next bike, but just wanna get some idea of the *maintenance*

general how long is a string answer for 10k and 20k rebuilds.

cos I wanna know have you ever seen rain

Could ring a shop, but easier to bother you people that obviously have no chobs.

Probably similar to a NSR250 in terms of rebuilds. Not sure about costs though. My mate Rick Porter of RP Racing helped write the FAQ on my site a few years back (www.nsr250sp.com now www.simjen.com)
Rebuild info for NSR's as below:
In road use, R P Racing replace rings every 30,000km and pistons, rings, circlips, pins etc every 60,000km. Ring groove should be thoroughly inspected when replacing rings and any sign of wear should result in piston replacement regardless of km. A flapping ring will break and do a LOT of damage.Top-end is exposed by seperating at the cylinder; thus a base gasket will also be required. Removal of the head is un-neccessary.
    Cylinders do not require oversizing.
Cranks should last 180,000km, but it pays to do a visual check each time top-end is being attended to. (A customer of theirs who used a MC21 for a courier vehicle, ran his bike from 12,500km to 194,000km before the engine retired.)
A quality 2-stroke oil is paramount. A sub standard oil or frequent trips to the redline will shorten these intervals dramaticly.
If you have recently purchased a used bike, then it may pay to have the engine checked well before the indicated intervals. Speedo readings on old bikes with multiple owners are renound for their inacuracy.

Traded in my rs250 before it needed a rebuild. I dont rekon the need it as often as you hear mine had done 14k and still ran perfectly. Motorad said they didnt have the time or parts to do it so got rid of it. But if you can get a good one its well worth it.

Rebuilds are a bitch with that powervalve system. It's expensive to change those and if you dont youll fuck the barrels as well.

NSR's dont need that so get one.

Too tired to explain why. RS250's are Peaky little shitbags - NSR's are sublime.

They do one for the RGVs and RSs as well? My bad, I thought they only did the NSR.

I dunno the TYGA kit IS for the nsr

Go the NSR, I honestly feel sorry for RGV's/RS's , that one little design flaw fucks em up.

RS with an NSR engine conversion

But NSR has more options aftermarket.

And the japanese look at it and go AHHH-SOOoooOH which I think is cool

The Aprilia RS250's all have the Suzuki VJ22 engine. Ring a suzuki dealer and get prices for top end rebuild. Some good info on www.rgv250.co.uk.
