    Advice needed

    Hi All

I am after some advice on rear tyres, I know theres been heaps of threads but heres the situation.

My mate has gone of on his OE and has left his ZZ1100 in my care. At the moment the bike is in storage in Whangerei (I live in AK), it is being started every week, but I can only get up there once a month to take it out for a ride. As I'm only going to be riding it once a month I'd like suggestions on what's a good rear tyre to run. At the moment it has Metzeler on 180/55 - 17

Any advice on tyres and looking after the bike would be good.

    Cheers

Firstly, get up there and swap the GSX for the Kawasaki while he's away.

Then, fit any rear tyre except a Shinko and you'll be right as rain.

    Happy wheelying

Have you room for the ZZ1100 back in AK? If you do, often go to AK from Whangarei and return on my CBR1000F, and would be happy to pillion you up to Whangarei if you wanted to ride the ZZ1100 back to AK. Send me a message if you do.

Unfortunately I don't have room for it in AK, but thanks for the offer. Will be taking in for a ride this weekend so may see you on the roads.

    cheers

WOW ZZR 1100 is notoriously hard on tyres. But I wouldn't mind betting the best wearing tyre for the back of the ZZR would comfortably be Bridgestone BT020 and as bonus they handle REALLY well on big bikes like the Kwacka. Only downside is they cost about 10% more than equivilent pirelli, michilen or other euro tyre because of less favourable exchange rate but you will get it back in the long run. Hope this helps.

No plans this weekend so if you are up this way give me a Txt (will sent you a private message with my celephone No.) and I'll show your some good tarsel back roads to take.

Also the Use-less-E's have a ride going from Western Hills Drive Caltex in Whangarei @ 10:30am every Sunday and don't mind tag-alongs.

Having recent experience with both the Battlax 020 and the Metzeler Roadtec Z6 I can highly recommend the Metzeler. I hope you run the same rubber front and rear??

If it were my bike I would have it on a battery tender. In case you only make it up once a fortnight, or you ride it for less than an hour at highway speeds.
