Motorists should exercise extreme caution along State Highway 1 in both directions, between Pukerua Bay and Waikanae, due to a spillage.
A truck has been leaking its load of mineral oil on the road and with the already wet road, the surface is extremely slippery.

Police advise State Highway 1 between Pukerua Bay and Paraparaumu has been closed due to an oil spill and adverse weather conditions. Roading contractors are in the process of attempting to clean the oil spill and clear debris from the road. No diversions are in place.
