    It had to happen!

Thankyou Ducati! They've finnaly decided to build a *real* bike.

Shame about the price, I'm off to rob a bank.

"Ducati announced yesterday in Italy that a new v-4 Ducati sportsbike for the road would be on sale within two years. At this stage the model is planned to be a limited edition only with the production of one bike a day coming out of the Ducati factory from Spring 2006.

Ducati are quoting that the special machine will sell for around 50,000 Euro which equates to around $86,000 AUD. Current 999R owners get first priority in the queue for the new bike.

The engine displaces 989cc and uses the traditional desmodromic actuated four valves per cylinder, with two cams per cylinder bank driven by gears.

The new machine has been dubbed the 'Desmosedici RR'. The bodywork for the new machine has not yet been designed."

I see the thread title and the poster and rub my hands in glee, expecting a juicy wheelie-flipping or stoppie-turned-helmet-surfing posted-from-hospital-bed-in-traction story and what do I see? This boring old news that *everyone* already knows about. Yawn. You're *so* last week, man.

You got a link for that mate?

I have a 996 riding friend I need to taunt.

Aint it funny how everyone *assumes* the worst! I've done my apprentiship of flipping bikes, sonny. Hurts too much to make a habit of it.

After I posted that I thought "Wow, everyones gonna think I've crashed with that title!"

Either that or I thought you had finally got a pic of your new stunt machine.

V4, hmmmm... sounds heavy but will be interesting to see what it can do/looks like etc

they'll probably start with a limited edition, knowing that they'll sell everyone they make and test the water. if the press rave about it, they'd almost certianly do a less trick version for the less well off punter. Bloody good idea though. that could actually have them competing with the japanese for once!

Well you might get 1 possible 2 to allocate for the WHOLE of nz, so if someone in here is a millionair a few times over could get one, but at what cost, i mean you wouldn't wanna ride it ont he road at that cost.

But its still a duke so most people will want one,

Why not? I know a chap who drives a Gallardo. Commutes to work in it every morning, in fact. $370,000 worth. You could buy quite a few FXRs for $370,000, you know.

Anyway, that new Duck is only the price equivalent of His and Hers V-Rods. Barely more than petty cash.

    Har. Har. Har.

As a matter of fact that much cash would buy 77 brand-new FXRs, including ORC. Remember that, in case the question ever turns up in Trivial Pursuit.

This will be Ducatis second attempt at a road going V4. They tried ages ago with the Apollo 1400, which, in the picture I saw, looked like two 750 round case GTs side by side. Was an attempt to win the US cop bike market from Harley, but the tyres of the day were inadequate.

    Nice artists impresion.

Ducati stated that they have designed no bodywork for the new machine.
