    "New" bike

Well, been in sunny W A for 6 weeks now, and finally back onto 2 wheels.Picked up a 2001 ZX9R, for a reasonable price and so far - Im really enjoying it. It seems so civilised and mild mannered. A doodle to ride and quite comfy. Took it into work on friday - 202k round trip and it handled it fine and so did I - (despite the 3 degree temperatures). After the 1000, it seems strange to be calling a 9R merely "adequate" in the performance sphere, but it certainly doesnt have the "snap", the thou's have got. It feels a bit like riding the old SP 750 - ie, non threatening. I admit it, the K4 always had me feeling I was riding the edge of total disaster if I relaxed too much for a second. Advanced reaction times being required at odds with advanced years..... The ZX feels totally controllable and slightly easier to keep somewhere within speed limits (at the moment). I think I'm going to enjoy this bike.
(also caught up with 6Chris6 - he's got a new SV1000 and is bemoaning the lack of decent roads)

Sweet ride SPman. Interesting to note what the power of the beast comes up like.

    Feckin better than bright green!
The Akrapovic system sounds good, but its a bit flat down low - needs a good dyno session, I think.

    oh...mint!!

I had the 6R version of the same generation...with an Akra can too.

Awesome bike for the road. So many fond memories of handing all kinds of modern bikes, big, small and inbetween their asses in a huge way with that thing...some of them with better riders than I too.

Not quite as great on the track, but then I never bothered to set it up for track work.

Man you'll love that bike, they're frickin awesome!

Damn. That is a pretty bike. I had to take a closer look after the positive comments. What did it set you back if I may be so bold to ask?

Looks like a grunter SP, i've always favoured the Kwaka ZX-9.

So what is that colour scheme - purple people eater?
