Another cage rant!!

Was riding on the right lane on Ghuznee St, just past the motorway offramp junction when a friggin' stationwagon thing just decides to switch into my lane at high lateral speed but next to no forward velocity, causing the closure speed between my front tyre and said idiot to close remarkably quickly...

Held down the norn, jumped on both brakes, switched down, had a bit of sliding from the back wheel and matched his 3-toed-sloth racing speed, honestly 3 inches from his back wheel!!

Had half a mind to accelerate past with boot stuck out at wind mirror height, but he limp-wristedly waved an apology, so all is forgiven. Afterall, we should be graceful and magnaminous to lesser beings stuck in cages. Only thing is that these cages be bolted to the ground so they can't hurt anyone...

Did accelerate past in the end, just to put as much distance between me and moron...

Will go attach saddle bag this evening so that a 12 gauge is within easy reach for future similar occurances

Had a similar thing this morn in Aucks...

Bus waiting for traffic to pass so that he can join main road...

He checked left 5 seconds or so earlier, so obviously there's no chance of a motorbike which does 0-60km/h in around 1 second now being on within the 100m of vision to his right...right?

So the dick predictably pulls out right in to my path, and I swerve to avoid him with the horn blasting (1st or 2nd time I've ever used it I think, not bad for an Aucklander eh ).

That was as exciting as my day's been so far...come on 5:30pm!

that sux.. you shoulda been like me, and chased them down to their house, and shouted at them for 5 minutes, even with them apologising, then leave.. if i had a bike when i was still in south africa, i woulda bought a gun, and if someone recklessly cut me off, i woulda shot each one.. or at least shot at them..

Yep, could see it coming a mile off. Rather than slow down and avoid him by a long way, I thought I'd maintain my speed and let him know that he's a blind knob, in the hope that he'll learn a lesson and not make the same mistake next time, when it may be someone who's had a few too many late nights on the bike.

It's SO good to see someone admitting they've done wrong. Hopefully by accepting that he was at fault he won't do it again next time. And the world becomes a safer place.

haha.. 99% of the time, I'm in a really good mood, helpful, happy etc.. it's just sometimes I get 'slightly' annoyed, but that extremely rarely happens to people I know (especially fellow bikers)

Funny that... I was carrying a rifle with me on the bike today! Haha! But it was a pussy .22 and was taking it to the courier company to get sent off... Woulda been tricky getting past all the packaging to shoot it anyway...

I fully agree with the airhorn concept. First thing I did when I bought the KR was fit them and damned if they haven't saved my life.

Now the policy is to aim straight for the tosser that cut me off, make a big show of heavy braking, hard on the air horns. There is nothing like advertising to the entire intersection/nearest 500metres that some bloody idiot cager doesn't deserve to be on the road.

Oh and stuff the poxy curtesy horns on most bikes - you want them to think a train is about to hit. I love the way that every driver perks up when they go off. Makes them look.
