    Same roundabout, different moron!

    (Rant warning)

Well, I'm home and safe - no thanks to a bloody retarded truckie.

Coming along the short bit of Killarney Road from the lake. Stop at the roundabout as cars are going through. Then a car comes through the roundabout from the other side of Killarney Road towards the lake, blocking traffic from Greenwood Street. I take my cue and move out into the roundabout. Well and truely on the roundabout but not yet at Kahikatea Drive where I would signal my intent to turn off the roundabout to go up Killarney Road towards Dinsdale. A truck and trailer unit that was stopped at the roundabout on Kahikatea Drive elects to release the clutch and pull out in front of me.

The truckie looks straight at me and gives me the "thumbs up" as if to say "it's all good, you don't mind me pulling out in front of you while you're leant over in the midst of a turn, do you, bro?"

While my hands and feet found brakes, clutch and gear lever and I tested out the XT's emergency braking capacity, my thumb found the horn.

I came to a halt in the midst of the roundabout while a truck and trailer lumbered by in front of me and a car that was on Greenwood Street prior to all this was now stopped behind me (thankfully) - mind you he did have visible and audible cues that I was stopping.

The truckie's still doing this cheesy "thumbs up" so I selected neutral and extended a digit of my own.

What's the bet that if the prick had splattered me he'd try to claim he never saw me?

Regrettably I was so annoyed I failed to get the trucking company's name or the truck's number so I am unable to phone them up and offer to come down an personally explain to the retard why you don't pull out in front of motorcycles that are in the midst of a corner and just expect them to magically stop. Out of respect for my knuckles I would see no need to remove my gloves for the duration of this explanation.

I strongly suspect the truckie had been smoking too much of something. Most likely cock.

This is the second time some truckie has pulled out in front of me from a standing start at that intersection. The last time my wife was driving the car and we had our three kids in the car.

Bloody morons. Seems the only qualifications you need to drive a big rig are an IQ of 3, scruffy clothes and a predilection for Country "music". You certainly don't seem to need any knowledge of the road rules, common courtesy or the ability to think about the consequences of your actions.

They are arrogant bastards that think they can do whatever they like because they're bigger than everyone else. There's a special word for people who think their size and capacity for damage grants carte blanche - "Bully".

I'm generally opposed to retaliatory violence but I'm beginning to understand why that bloke bashed a truckie with a hammer after being bullied off the road by the arrogant in-bred bastard.

A couple more incidents like this and I'm likely to take to carrying a 3/4-sized baseball bat on the bike. Providing the mental bastards don't kill me first.

And that, Fluffy Cat, was a rant.

    **SEETHE**

Yeah, I know a lot of KBers drive trucks and are very much "biker aware" so this rant does not intend to besmirch them. However, unless their rigs have large KB stickers on them, I'm not likely to recognise them as fellow bikers on the road and I am going to act as if they are brain-damaged thugs trying to kill me.

Mate, I already wear black and since I'm on a Road-Trail if I pulled up alongside you on your cruiser I'd tower over you, despite you being a long lean streak of weasel piss and me being a card-carrying short-arse.

Bastidge wasn't ignoring me, he was looking directly at me with his thumb up like "It's cool, bro, I'll just pull 18 squillion tons of retard-mobile out in front of you, no probs, eh?"

As to when "it" happened: Looketh here.

Ah, well the difference of you on your bike and me on mine is you don't look like a Filthy-Few member lol.

And congrats. Maybe should get over that way for Carver's ride, if so you'll have to come and Ando if he gets his fixed.

Damn good save there Wolf, glad to hear you are in fine form too! lol. I dont recommend the hammer or the bat though, you can buy some excellent 'tools' at super-cheap etc that no-one will ask why you are carrying. If you should 'accidently drop' one into a truckies side window, "sorry didnt see you" seems to work for everyone else. lol

You won't get any argument from me. When I was walking to and from work it was a bitch to get across there.

K-Drive is one of our busiest roads and K-Drive/Greenwood Street is a major route for trucks. Killarney road is heavily industrial between the roundabout and the lake and densely populated up to Dinsdale - all in all, it's a hive of activity at that hub.

And the insane things I've seen trucks do down Greenwood/Kahikatea make your hair turn white. Running lights at speed, exceeding the speed limit, the incidents at the roundabout.

There's a perfectly servicable railway line less than a kilometre closer to the lake, we don't need the trucks.

Every town in NZ should have rail access and a shipping yard. All large consignments should be freighted by rail from town to town to be split up and delivered to the places in town they need to be by courier van or small lorry.

Then we can get rid of the ugly diesel-fume-belching rigs - preferably shove them up their drivers arses.

If it needs more than 4 wheels, it shouldn't be allowed on the road (and as a die-hard biker I'm being extremely magnanimous in acknowledging that there's some need for four-wheelers)

Here is an excellent article you should read:

    http://www.chuckhawks.com/motorcycle_firearms.htm

You should get a walking stick and mount it on the bike like on "house", make it a metal one with weight at the tip for the extra Ooomph

gotta hate tossers like that...specially since he was looking right at you, as you know. lucky you stopped ok and kept her upright. didnt have a yak to any passersby who mayve got the name for you?

honestly, ive had nothing but good experiences wih trucks, but reading threads like this remind me some are tossers and to always be wary. i hate being inbetween two of them, and like to at least have a car between me and them.

Ok bud I agree that this guy was a moron, but if you gonna class all us truck drivers as the same , then you`d better think a little differently.
I`m sorry that this retard hurt your feelings, and am aware that he could have hurt a lot more than feelings!!!.

I`ve learnt to accept the Idiots that pull out in front of me (bikes included) and then expect me to stop as the norm .

If i was to stress then i`d be ded from said stress!.

Well done on the save tho.

And if I`m ever down that way and i see you on said roundabout , I`ll get the stop go signs out and stop traffic just for you then I`ll sit at the roundabout for about 45 mins while waiting for a slot just so i dont upset another of you sensitive types down their.
Hey anyways what happened to you is just one of many things that needs a clean up, that and speed , dont know why so many truckies insist on going everywhere on the speed limiter usually around 105-110 average kmph.

Am just a little upset tho at you`re reference to ALL truckies being the same !!!

They did. They were . That's why so many small towns have a rail line right down the middle of the main street. Until a market-forces government decided to hand the whole deal over to private exploitation

You seem to have missed some important words in the text you quoted so I have highlighted them.

You also may have missed this, being so upset that I had tarred all truckies with the same brush:

Just stay stopped like that plonker should have and that will be sufficient. After nearly 25 years' experience on motorcycles I'm capable of riding through a roundabout and signalling my intent to leave. It's only when I have to straighten the bike on a short curved road and stop within the constraints of wherever I happen to be pointed at the time that things get hairy.

It's not as if he couldn't stop in time when approaching the roundabout. He was already stopped, saw I was on the roundabout and decided to deliberately pull out anyway because "fuck it, I'm in a truck and I outweigh everything else on the road. They can't harm me." I'm quite serious about wanting to give him a demonstration that I can cause him personal damage.

Plenty of people turn off onto K Drive to stop traffic and cover his entry onto the roundabout in a safe fashion. I had to stop for three cars coming from my right and going down K-drive to my left before I could move. He could have gone while they were blocking me rather than waiting for me to get out on the roundabout. Even at the limbering snail's pace of his piece of shit diesel wankmobile he could have been almost off the roundabout by the time I was free to go. It's his own fault he was too busy playing with himself to take advantage of the opportunity.

His lack of patience after he missed his chance is his issue, he chose to try to make it my problem by directly threatening my life - something about which I must admit I am "sensitive about".

You seem to be sensitive about people getting pissed off with truckies.

The retard that directly threatened the lives of my kids lost his job because my wife complained to the company and it appears that he already had a record of dangerous driving complaints. Seems the warnings he had already received were insufficient to drive basic road safety concepts into his thick skull. I hope the dole queue has a more profound effect.
