(Rant warning)
Well, I'm home and safe - no thanks to a bloody retarded truckie.
Coming along the short bit of Killarney Road from the lake. Stop at the roundabout as cars are going through. Then a car comes through the roundabout from the other side of Killarney Road towards the lake, blocking traffic from Greenwood Street. I take my cue and move out into the roundabout. Well and truely on the roundabout but not yet at Kahikatea Drive where I would signal my intent to turn off the roundabout to go up Killarney Road towards Dinsdale. A truck and trailer unit that was stopped at the roundabout on Kahikatea Drive elects to release the clutch and pull out in front of me.
The truckie looks straight at me and gives me the "thumbs up" as if to say "it's all good, you don't mind me pulling out in front of you while you're leant over in the midst of a turn, do you, bro?"
While my hands and feet found brakes, clutch and gear lever and I tested out the XT's emergency braking capacity, my thumb found the horn.
I came to a halt in the midst of the roundabout while a truck and trailer lumbered by in front of me and a car that was on Greenwood Street prior to all this was now stopped behind me (thankfully) - mind you he did have visible and audible cues that I was stopping.
The truckie's still doing this cheesy "thumbs up" so I selected neutral and extended a digit of my own.
What's the bet that if the prick had splattered me he'd try to claim he never saw me?
Regrettably I was so annoyed I failed to get the trucking company's name or the truck's number so I am unable to phone them up and offer to come down an personally explain to the retard why you don't pull out in front of motorcycles that are in the midst of a corner and just expect them to magically stop. Out of respect for my knuckles I would see no need to remove my gloves for the duration of this explanation.
I strongly suspect the truckie had been smoking too much of something. Most likely cock.
This is the second time some truckie has pulled out in front of me from a standing start at that intersection. The last time my wife was driving the car and we had our three kids in the car.
Bloody morons. Seems the only qualifications you need to drive a big rig are an IQ of 3, scruffy clothes and a predilection for Country "music". You certainly don't seem to need any knowledge of the road rules, common courtesy or the ability to think about the consequences of your actions.
They are arrogant bastards that think they can do whatever they like because they're bigger than everyone else. There's a special word for people who think their size and capacity for damage grants carte blanche - "Bully".
I'm generally opposed to retaliatory violence but I'm beginning to understand why that bloke bashed a truckie with a hammer after being bullied off the road by the arrogant in-bred bastard.
A couple more incidents like this and I'm likely to take to carrying a 3/4-sized baseball bat on the bike. Providing the mental bastards don't kill me first.
And that, Fluffy Cat, was a rant.
**SEETHE**
Yeah, I know a lot of KBers drive trucks and are very much "biker aware" so this rant does not intend to besmirch them. However, unless their rigs have large KB stickers on them, I'm not likely to recognise them as fellow bikers on the road and I am going to act as if they are brain-damaged thugs trying to kill me.
