If you guys do get a club together, let us know, would love to see a group of those beauties together. First production bike that topped 100bhp wasn't it?

    Hi Brains
Yeah it would be great if we get some interest though there are not to many left around these days. You're right they were the first production bike at 103hp to top the 100hp mark. Pretty tame these days but back in 1978 they were fast! Like most bikes of their day the engine was a few years ahead of the frame.

    Hey Sensei

The 81 & 82 bikes had prolink, I think he means he owned it in 90, the photo is of a 78-79 bike. My bike has been up in Auckland but I am bringing it down on the weekend, so will hopefully be out and about on it as the weather improves. By the way the photo is not my bike but is similar.

It was a 78.. caned for 7+ years from 82/83 until 1990 (might have been 91)..... I remember a guy on a then brand new CBX750 who goaded me on the motorway, silly as it was he was a speck in the mirror by the time it hit an indicated 235kmh and still had some more (by then it had been modded).the pic is from around 83 after i bought a brand new set of pipes.. when it had the stock 120 rear you could light it up on rounderbouts in the dry..in the wet,if you got a green..get it sideways going on at Kyber pass, still have it out of shape when you came to the motorway... a great bike and glad i had it then going through the 1980's,it could hold its own, even the handling was good for a 600 odd lb bike..power from 2000 to 9000rpm...Armchair 11's but also a great cross country bike that would eat the miles while turbine smooth........Do i miss it?not really ..great memories are enough.

    .
    .

    What he said.

    Ah, the memories.....

Anyone remember the one in the Castrol Six Hour blowing in a big way? I can't remember who was riding it (come in Merv!!)

Anyone remember Mike Gane from Tauranga who used to race a silver one, mainly at Bay Park (the old BP, not the new one!) He was last heard of, many many years ago, working at Norjos in Christchurch.

Yeah, I fell in love with the first one I ever saw in Woodville years ago. Clive Mathews owned it way back then. It had six into two and sounded grouse.

My husband has a CBX550 in mint condition. He was only the second owner and has had it for more than 20 years now. He loves using it at track days because no one expects it to be fast!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
