    I'm undecided on this.

I certainly think that your at least partially at fault, but by the same token your not wholly to blame. At any rate I can say for sure that I am glad you survived a bin at that speed with what sounds like not much more than major damage to your wallet.

Hope the wounds heal and the wallet doesnt get too badly done over.

Bugger mate. Hope you heal up soon and this sorts itself out ASAP

to clarify a few things, I agree i was partly to blame... should not have overtaken on double yellow but I thought it was safe, could see far enough ahead etc. Suv didnt just cut corner but nealy squished me into barrier on the right hand side of road thats why we collided, I ran out of room.
Alot of valid points from everyone. Facts.. I broke the law by riding with out license, doing over posted speed and overtaking on double yellows. The accident wouldn't of happened if he also didn't cross double yellows. (I know that makes me a hypocrite) As i saw it, I started over taking before the bend but he speed up so couldn't get past so decided to continue over taking through the bend, I think he was going to fast for the corner in his car so he was forced to cut to make it round and in the process took me out. I DEFINATLEY could be wrong and he didn't see me and speeding up was just coincidence and if thats the case i'm just shit out of luck. Thanks to everyone for support and advice. Once again i'll say that i'm not bitchin about this accident because i know i made bad choices and got fucked because of them. Car driver was nice to me when i was in the car with them.
Anywho, thanks to everyone once again.

Went out to lock bike up last night and damage was alot less than i thought.
Fairrings(sp?) were scratched up aswell as tank, clutch lever broken off, left handlebar bent, wing mirror removed gear lever and peg nolonger there but thats about it. Bike started with one kick. It also seemed to go into a straight line when i pushed it, so not the end of the world. I'll post pics of my bike and my gear abit later.

Well... You were in the wrong as was the SUV... So you both end up suffering for your mistakes by fixing your own damage...

devil and ixion put it well... For instance in any vehicle the yellow lines between Bombay and Hamilhole are a joke, as is some of the yellow lines on SH2 at Maramarua...

If the driver had accelerated why did you keep trying to pass them? Surely the best option would have been to back off and wait for a better option. I always say to myself that it's better to wait another corner or two and get a clean run on the next few than to kiss the pavement trying to get in one extra good corner.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Regardless of whose fault it was, I don't like the fact they wrote on the card "the car you hit". That is unnecessary in my opinion.

I was backed into by a car when it was reversing up a steep hill after I saw it and stopped. The driver did not see me as she was looking over her shoulder and not in the rear view mirror. My front fender got smashed and she said "that's what happens when you go up someone’s bum" as if I hit her! She said it in a joking way but it still left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Allways bad to hear about someone binning it and glad you survived BUT....!
Overtaking on a double yellow line, without a licence on a low HP bike in that gorge...Back to School for you my lad to learn how to ride a bike properly on the road.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!
