Heading back to Palmy through the gorge you would be on the water side when over taking, lucky KLOWN never got wet, that could have been the real down side of an 'off ' on the piece of road........

I see you chose an appropriate name anyway! lol
Sorry to hear about your off but glad to hear you are basically ok. As you said, you made the decision but lived to learn from it I hope. Heal well and fast.
I hope the 4x4 owner doesnt come after you for damages!

If you think about the line that a bike would take overtaking on a right hander and then returning to the correct side of the road, it's going to be crossing the starboard bow of the USV, and with the rider unsighted. If said SUV decides to put his foot down through the corner to teach young idiot on motorbike a lesson (as they do, as they do), then you pretty much have it.
As has happened in this case. The Gorge never used to be double yellow lines all the way through, there were once plenty of legal passing opputunties through there prior to that being done.
They did it after the big flood, that road is pretty Fcked up now, and that was their cheapskate solution to it.
I can well imagine AJTurbo passing in a van through there, there are areas there where you have enough clear view time to grow a crop of tobacco, dry, roll it and have smoked it before you get to it's end.

Good Luck with it Klown, say as little as possible about it, stealth is your best hope to get through this...

Thanks everyone for the offers of help. Aj turbo helped me pick it up at about 12pm today. (thanks man) I have been in bed all day after picking it up, I have been sooo tired after it happened must be my body trying to heal and also hard to get a good night sleep when no matter how you lie your sore. From now on i'm definately going to think twice before overtakin. Up until now i though i was a reasonably safe rider, always slowin down when coming to intersections making sure turing cars can see me etc. I guess I just thought i'd be seen on an open road when there is no side traffic and only two lanes of traffic to worry about. but I can count this definately as lesson learnt!!!!!

Anywho, thanks to everyone once again.
I bet the driver was nice. I bet the driver also had a quick chat with the A & E staff about that "poor young guy". What's the bet he knows your name, date of birth and blood group by now? And what's the bet his insurance company and the police also have this information?

Glad to hear you're okay - at least you got to live and learn.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Good on you for recognising what you did wrong. That lesson may cost you some pain and some $$$, but may also save your life in the future.
    Time to ride

lets get this straight, you tired to overtake while riding an rg150? are you nuts? Hope your not liabable and if so that youve got at least 3rd party, mercs are expensive, bikes can be fixed and bones can be healed (usally) thank god that your not serriously hurt!
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

umm same thing on a straight! You can have yourself bunted in to the scenery just as easily on a straight stretch as a corner, hell I used to pass on the corners in my car, cause fuckers would always speed up on the straights but then nanny round the bends so deal with them whilst you can keep your speed legalish!

And anyways no matter where you are on your bike you should always be looking for an escape route, weather its up a side road, braking hard to use the space behind or up the far right of the road across an oncoming lane you should ALWAYS have a plan on where and how to go if things should go all pear shaped..
