Actually, I'm sure the offender wanted a longer sentence too. Heated cells, Sky, 3 cooked meals a day, free gym membership, free education, cheap drugs etc, etc, etc.
Only in NZ mate.

Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
Yeah fuck that, that prick's a waste of space and is using up my precious air supply. Sounds like he needs a nice long sentence doing hard labour to keep him off the streets. There are enough nutters on the road without ones like this getting let off all the time.
NZ isn't the only place where retarded shit happens Sniper...
He'll come out with a post graduate degree in car conversion and "advanced criminal behaviour" also...

Why could he not be held in preventive detention the same as a rapest when they keep reaffending. It dose not sound like he will ever learn.
Yip although Swedish prisons are worse. They're like a hotel.Originally Posted by Sniper

he's been busted that many times he's not allowed to drive again, has another charge pending and then goes out and almost kills some kid, costs the tax payer over $100000 and all he gets a 3 year holiday which will be cut short for "good behaviour" and then he'll go and do it again, what ever happened to preventitive detention? he should be put on a small island and forgoten.![]()
It's an attitude that is promoted in this country, in a round about way of course.
The justice system is so weak and pathetic that criminal behaviour isn't of any concern to some New Zealanders.
This government needs a kick up the arse and the Corrections Department should all be sacked, because between the hundreds of them working each day, they have contributed nothing that is bettering the situation.
I say employ a head prison officer from a Texan prison and have him manage the jailing systems.
Also, Bring in a few Aussies or Pom's to take charge of restructuring our justice system. Coz we can't do it.
Piss poor sentence, they should have nailed his balls to the wall for much longer than that!!!!!

I'm Singaporean... Vote me for corrections minister!! It'll be the end of crime, drugs and chewing gum.
My elections motto: Prevent repeat offending, shoot them the 1st time.
That sounded so cool, I'm gonna add it to my signature

Whats happened to the concept of "Consecutive" terms, as against concurrent?
I cant say I have ever seen any convicted criminal go down for say, 2 years on each of 2 charges, to be served consecutively ie 4 years total.
I think our judges need to harden up a little and deal to these pricks with a few more sentences of this nature...
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...
