There's a lot more to the tax rates issue than "cut taxes and then everything will be all good", as anyone who can do a bit of IS-LM-BP analysis will tell you.

Cutting taxes when you've got lower unemployment than the natural rate is going to do more harm than good. I suspect if National had won the election we'd all be moaning about high inflation and the prospect of economic downturn. Our net exports would be harmed as well. Notice how no other party said 'fair enough we'll cut tax rates but were gonna have to cut spending as well'? Not even ACT.

I'm all for tax cuts, provided they're implemented when needed instead of a Naive bribe to get people to vote for you in an election.

That sounds familiar.....oh yea, right. The current inflation that I feel everyday IS high enough. Not according to the government figures, I know. But, hey, if petrol and food have risen by more than 20% in the last 2 years, I don't understand how inflation can be said as less than 3%. What are they measuring for that figure?

And as for exports, our high value exports: education and tourism has steadily declined during the past year and there is no sign of respite.

We ARE in the economic downturn.
Prospect of economic downturn is way better than being in one.

Yeah, fair enough it is badish at the moment. If we were to further stimulate aggregate demand, its fairly obvious what would happen. Don Brash is (was) a smart guy but I get the feeling he's telling poeple what they want to hear in order to gain more votes, rather than promoting policies which would be good for the economy.

    Gotta love freedom of speech.........
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

don't need the axe, though, that was just icing on the cake. Talking is enough.

    Err no...

It's initiating or causing an uprising against the State.

Criticisng the Govt if fine, doing something that'll cause others to overthrow the govt isn't

    Example
"Meeting 5:00 the pub near Parliament, bring petrol" would be sedicious.

Helen Clarke is a **** would be defamatory

Labour couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery would be true...I mean critical.
