    Bad-ass bike... or not?

    Gotta love this article!

    http://www.goingfaster.com/angst/noharley2.html

Excerpt: "... and that's what I consider a Harley to be. A big, overpriced ego boosting scooter..."

    worth a few laughs!

Sort of an alternative to 'a Valentino Rossi copy cat for those that think they can ride' or 'a two-wheeled armchair complete with sound for those with no adrenaline left in their blood'
All bikes have got their detractors.
Harleys are just an easy target for those with a 2nd place bike.

And I see you are one of those 'other' riders - as in there are two types of riders - those that ride Harleys and the others that want to ride one' heh heh heh!!!

Hahah!! You did spend the $$ on a rolling couch!

Don't have strong feelings either way... the article is funny though...

I wouldn't mind riding one to see what the fuss is about, but definitely wouldn't buy one, much less 2!!

Nope, just ask White Trash how much of a couch a T-Sport is.

    (2) Easy to say when you can't afford two yourself!!

Anyway, I stumbled onto the article looking for what people say about inline4s vs vtwins. Yeah, peak power vs torque and all that...

I'm looking to upgrade from my 250 to a 600-ish, and am tossing up between an inline4 sportbike or vtwin sport-tourer.

    Generally...

    Inline 4s
    Higher hp figure (potentially faster)
    More sport focussed

    V-Twins
    Better torque (useable power)
    More comfy
    Cheaper

Guess I'll need to go out and ride afew and decide which one my arse feels better in isn't it?

You can also add "Easier maintenance and engine accessability" with V-twin, especially air-cooled ones (although most now-a-days are water-cooled).

But an inline 4 will be heaps smoother.

So, and from what I've been reading, the benefits of an il4 are to be experienced only on a race track, riding like the Terminator's behind you? (Hang on, he's riding a harley, so no worries... )

The fact that an inline4 sounds fast where-ever it goes convinced me to buy one. Took a bit of effort to ride with the revs higher though.

Mind you, the article was written in 1993, way before the V-Rod...

I didn't know Porsche had worked with HD before that - interesting..

Comparing HDs and Sports Bikes is like comparing apples with steak though - what's the point?

Note how the japs try to imitate HD "features" such as pushrod OHV engines in their cruisers.. Let's face it, all cruisers tend to be image-driven in their design don't they?

Another outdated point in that article was the comment about French bikes - there are a few interesting but rare and exotic french superbikes out there now (e.g. Mondial Piega).
Slob by name, not by nature..

    Talking

Just bought Duc-Gurl a new SV1000 with Yoshi's on it as I missed that Vtwin rubble too much. Plenty of poke for most of us but they win in the riding style for me.
Sure ok the inlines scream and go like buggery but nothing feeeeeeeeeeeeels and sounds better than a Vtwin rumble!
Once again it comes down to personal preferences
