So todays experiment has proven that birdstrike versus Shoei helmet is not life threatening. However do not try this at home, Im a trained professional.
You riding facing backwards again? Those pesky birds catching up, again?

Sounds like you got off lightly Kawa, the few riders I know who have had that happen to them have all testified that it was like getting punched in the head, they all had to stop and get their bearings. Glad to hear the Shoei triumphed in your case!

that brings me back to the time i was driving a cage to raglan, and hit a pukeko, and it flew up in the air about 9 feet, then landed on the other side of the road..

i've always wonderd what would happen if a bird flew into my visor beak first. Im paranoid that they will go though the visor and into my eye :|
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Heyyy, don't be so mean. He said he was doing a "healthy pace".

My KawaGreen Dicioniy(tm) defines that as
minimum of 20km, but not exceeding 4000rpm in 2nd gear.

Def. faster than reverse. Anyone know of average cruising speed of the NZ resident birds?

Had a simular close call yesterday, was busy avoiding some ice on a corner out in the back roads and all of a sudden there was a bloody Phesent in front of me at about helmet hight. Im sure I missed it by a meter or so but personally that was to close for me.

There beaks are very hard, and traving at 140ish + what ever the bird is going at.... thats alot of momentum... How strong are the visors from a sharp object?

Things would be pretty intreting round here if my cuzzies hadn't eaten all the Moa. That'd be a lot of beak to worry about. Moa than I could handle.
