Angry Strip RG500 motor after crank spun

Stripped my RG500 this week... one of the cranks spun! (has two cranks)
Now how do you tell the wife that it won"t be expensive?

Gearbox blow on the way back from taupo race track for the Rg500 meeting last year. Fixed the gearbox but could not get the motor running well. Found out the crank has spun at the same time the gearbox went Bang!!. What timing.

The Rg has a cassette gearbox so it is easy to remove and fix, don't need to remove the motor or split the casings.

How do I post a picture I show before and damage!
Will price parts this week but I have been told to win lotto when rebuilding an RG500.

I have an RG400 for parts but not all parts are usefull. Gearbox I put in the 500 was from the 400. Good idea to replace all bearings and seals when you have a motor a part. As sure as rain in the summer a simple seal not replaced will leak and turn life in to a nightmare.

best of luck man, i still miss my RG. They are the best bikes in my books.
If your gonna strip and replace - please check that oil pump. Dont do what i did and forget it. If that fails at a peak moment.....your looking at a new motor

Yeah hope you get it sorted. I discovered today my RG150 likely has a blown crank seal. Looks like i'll be getting my hands dirty too.

I dream of the day I own one of those RG500's, love them!
