I was thinking about how the Govt collects stats on causes of vehicle accidents, and in particular, stats relating to when a motorbike runs off the road with no other vehicles about.
These are usually categorised as the riders fault, and in most cases I would suspect speed (too fast for conditions, or simply toooo fast) would be the predominant factor.
So, hypothetically speaking, what if, whenever a biker ran off the road (bend or whatever), they said to the investigating Police Officer that
1. a bee/insect hit them in the eye
2. they had a sneezing fit, or
3. they can't remember anything but think that they may have fallen asleep.
How then would the accident be categorised in terms of causal factors ?
Surely not speed........am I on to something here or what ...?
