    Speeding....

I was thinking about how the Govt collects stats on causes of vehicle accidents, and in particular, stats relating to when a motorbike runs off the road with no other vehicles about.

These are usually categorised as the riders fault, and in most cases I would suspect speed (too fast for conditions, or simply toooo fast) would be the predominant factor.

So, hypothetically speaking, what if, whenever a biker ran off the road (bend or whatever), they said to the investigating Police Officer that
    1. a bee/insect hit them in the eye
    2. they had a sneezing fit, or
    3. they can't remember anything but think that they may have fallen asleep.

How then would the accident be categorised in terms of causal factors ?

Surely not speed ........am I on to something here or what ...?

and stupid NZ plods will record them all as speed related since....

    1. If you were going slower, the insect/bee might have gone around you or it wouldn't have hurt so much.

    2. if you were going slower, you could have stopped safely (try walking pace...)

    3. if you were going to fall asleep, you should have been stopped - so any speed is too much speed....

    and so on....

not that they care what the riders will say anyway....

Number 3 will probably get you charged with careless, the first two would be reasonable explanations.

I can see an epidemic of bee stings and sneezing fits coming up.
The cops will set up an Apiary squad and a Respiratory diseases division to investigate.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

    Stats....lies.
EG 16% of fatal accidents are caused by drunk drivers...therefore 84% are caused by sober drivers. Therefore sober drivers are MUCH more dangerous and we have to get them off our roads!!
    pt
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

You shouldn't be riding with a wide on.

There are all sorts of suction and air braking risks involved.
