    Biker down - Auckland, Pakuranga

Spotted a rider down just outside Pakuranga plaza. Riding a Honda NX125, I think he got T-boned when traffic across 2 lanes stopped to let cars out from the Plaza and he decide to filter thru without see the cars coming out from Plaza.

Hope he is ok... he was on the ground talking and all. Didn't stop as I was in a cage few lanes across and there were others attending.

Have chat to the guy once while at the lights. Don't think he is from KB.

I think he lives down Botany / Flatbush way.

well if thats the case the NX125 rider should have been more careful not running to the side of the car then. He was on the far right handside of the right hand lane, and that road has 2 lanes going in that direction. Can't say that he couldn't have anticipated or seen the car coming out from the Plaza.

Had rode in proximity with him for a while... and he was splitting quite quickly. And I was on my Hornet...

ok he probably could have maybe anticipated it but then again I have been in that lane and half the distance between the lights and the road coming out of the plaza where he was hit when someone has pulled out thinking they could make it.... and this has happened more than once. They pull out fast then slow right down when the realise they can't merge quickly enough on the other side/ an't make tight enough angle to get into the slipstream lane.
As I said happened a few times now so more weary about it.. but some people leave it really really late.

hmmm i propose a new ad for tv, kinda along the same lines of that uk "how close does a biker have to be" one mixed with the "bad decision" one on our tv at the moment.

simply replace the car in the bad decision one with a bike and ending with the guy behind bars and fade to the words "Killing a biker is MURDER" .....

mabye some day KB will go as far as making its own biker awareness ads? (i know i'd donate time and cash for it) we could even enter the Fair Go Ad Awards!

Yea, ur right. that is a tricky turn. They should look at integrating the Plaza exit with a set of lights and whatever... just like outside Park&Save at Botany
