Perhaps she should have tried Waylander's idea of wearing a big fuck-off black leather jacket and ride a huge black HD - see if looking like a gang member actually sets off warning bells in the cager's puny minds...Originally Posted by dangerous

Really sorry to hear about the accident. You can take all the precautions you like and if it is your day for it, it just seems to happen. At least the precautions she did take prob saved her life... guess there is a reason to wear all that good protective stuff and to be a defensive rider.![]()
All my best for her recovery... and keep us informed as to what happens to the driver. It would be nice to know the driver got a suitable reward for their stupidity...perhaps a nice long stay in hospital next to their victim? Shame it aint an eye for an eye in NZ.![]()

Thanks everyone for your kind words and pm's of concern and offers for practical and sanity assistance.
Liz had plates or rods inserted depending on the injury on Tuesday in all 4 limbs. The shoulder reconstruction was supposed to happen yesterday but didn't eventuate and some further internal examination of one leg is going to be done to ensure no infection is possible in one of the injuries. The internal bleeding was limited to one thigh and apparently is common for that sort of injury, no torso related internal damage has been found apart from the lung issues.
As expected with the drugs she is on yesterday she was dropping in and out of reality/sleep and answers to questions were monosyballic at best. She had some breathing issues yesterday, mainly around blood/oxygen levels and lung function. She has a bit of gunk in her lungs which isn't being naturally expelled as she can't cough or breath fully comfortably, also she had a oxygen bubble I believe below/under one lung which was to be removed.
When I left last night at ~9:30pm she was sitting up slighty, the lights were fully on and she was definately all home and was talking in complete sentences.
This morning however we have received a call from the hospital and were advised she was moved from ICU 2 to ICU 1 which involves a higher state of monitoring and indicates a higher level of concern. We were requested family members were present when the doctors rounds were finished, rather than waiting for visiting hours to officially start.
I'm yet to get access to find out why but I believe it's breathing related again, other members of the family are visiting and it's limited to 2 at a time.

Unfortunately with these types of injuries all kinds of things pop up afterwards whilst in hospital, and it goes on and on.
It will be a long haul for you all but if she's in ICU she'll get the best care around the clock, and thats what counts.
Best wishes again.
I think I probably speak for the unwashed masses when I tell you we'll be praying twice as hard to our respective gods that shes out of ICU and recovering soon.Originally Posted by Eddieb

My thoughts and prayers are all with you at this time. Hope she makes a speedy recovery and that the news gets brighter in the next day or so. Big Hugz too.
Small and dangerous with a sting in my tail!!
Thanks for the update Eddie. I really appreciate that you are taken the time to post these updates. Cheers M8!
All the best
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
Like everyone else, thinking of you and your family. It will take time, but it is truly amazing how we recover.
well wishes sent to Liz in Love n Light

asked Mom if I was a gifted child ... she said they certainly wouldn't have paid for me.
Went and saw Liz last night in ICU, she was a trifle groggy from the drugs but was speaking and comprehending and is definitely on the mend.
I passed on general love and well wishes from the KB community.
I also spoke with her husband and EddieB and got more of an idea what happened in the accident.
Apparently, the woman who turned in front of her did not indicate that she was about to turn, she just swung the wheel and crossed Liz's path.
Here's where it gets nasty: Lizzie struck the passenger-side corner of the car, the bike flipped around to the left and took out half of the front bumper while Liz continued in pretty much a straight line over the bonnet and slammed her shoulder into the windshield pretty much in front of the driver's face.
Basically, she was so close to the car it didn't even have time to present a full side to her, the passenger corner of the car had only just enough time to swing around into the path of her bike.
And the stupid driver claims not to have seen her. FFS, I would expect anyone who holds a licence to be able to see a pedestrian at that range.
Driver was not insured, of course, why should she take any responsibility on the road at all?
Liz used a less than complimentary term about the driver when she was informed she had already had two sessions in surgery and is scheduled for a third.
Motorbike Camping for the win!
Wishing Liz all the best from Annie and me. A stupid bitch "didn't see" ( more like didn't fucken look!) Annie in Feb 2002, and took her out. I have an appreciation as to how you guys feel. I was a/. bloody angry, and b/. felt so bloody powerless. I NEVER want to see my little darling, or anyone for that matter, seriously injured from a bike crash again.
Liz is in the best place, and here's wishing her a speedy and full recovery.
And I hope the mongrel that took her out gets more than a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket, like the" life support system for a cunt" that hit Annie got
