Weather has been real bad all day.
Was getting ready to break out the sunblock lotion, but the pub opened and dashed inside out of the weather.

    PHEW! That was close...

Yeah thanks for the warning. It was really wet riding to Porirua then over the Haywards to get from Welly city to Upper Hutt.

Guys, for all of you about to head north after work this came in around an hour ago if it has not already circulated. Take it easy people.

NZ Police CommCens Alert 14:00 5-07-2006 Wellington
Location of incident: Horokiwi (State Highway 2 ) - Wellington - Update

Incident Type: Slips: Horokiwi (State Highway 2 ) - Wellington - Update

Police have been advised that the slippage problems will mean that travel between the Hutt and Wellington will be restricted for at least the next 48 hours.

At this stage the following actions are being taken:

One lane of the normal State Highway 2 South bound lane has been turned into a Northbound lane.

The other south bound lane remains as normal.

This means that there will be slow travel through this area - expect delays.

There is the option of going to the Hutt from Wellington, via State Highway 1 - Hayward Hill road , but by 1600(4.00 p.m.)hours, the regular commuters on this route will also bv using it and there may be traffic delays due to traffic volume.

Anybody contemplating using the train to go home to the Hutt area , please be aware that train staff are currently undertaking Industrial action and are running on the Saturday Time table ( Trains every half hour accept that there is an extra train to the Hutt at 1650(4.50 p.m.) and 1720(5.20 p.m.).

Police are requesting that all motorists should be travelinf(Driving) to the conditions and be aware of the problems.
"Resort to the law so exhausts finances, patience, courage, hope, so overthrows the brain and breaks the heart, that there is not one honourable lawyer who would not give the warning "Suffer any wrong rather than come here".
