Yes - I was thinking about building an Ark if this rain does not stop soon. Of course there will need to be room onboard for two of everything that has to survive the great flood. My list starts with: 2 Ducatis, 2 sheep, ......... actually that's pretty much it.Originally Posted by Colapop

Nah - teach the sheep to cook and you won't need those ones.

Well both North bound lanes of SH2 are thoroughly blocked just before the Petone overbridge. Huuuge slip, about 30-40ft high. Could easily engulf the median barriers.
The guys working on trying to shift that crap have my respect. That hill is just shale and clay, and it probably has tonnes of water behind it pushing it out. Irrespective of the weather I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it if it let go.
Here I was thinking leaving at 10 would avoid the queues. Hah!

The bad news is that the 'takas are out!
Slip at rapa end and washout at hutt end.
Police report that the road is closed and could remain that way for an extended period.
Well they are still working on the slip at Horokiwi. Looks as if it's taking an hour or so to get into town this morning from Lower Hutt.
Provided a good excuse to come into work via Haywards this morning. Still a lot of surface water about and the road coming down from the Haywards Substation to the Hutt M/way was a bit greasy. I'd also forgotten how cold it is through Judgeford!
Hope they've got the slip sorted by the time I'm off home. Fifteen minutes max if SH2 is open as opposed to almost an hour via Haywards.
Still it's NOT RAINING.
Happy the worst is over :-) just have to get the jacket dry now...
It has really taken on a bloody awfull smell after being damp all week![]()
Any sugesstions on how to clean it? Last time i washed one I managed to remove the waterproofing quality of the jacket.

Wash it in Nik Wax Tech Wash. Normal washing powder clogs up the fibres and removes its ability to wick water down the waterproof liner, hence the loss of waterproofing.
I then also use a light water proofing aerosol spray. Can't remember its name, sorry.
