I went from a Tourance to a Fullbore M41 (basically same as 705 bias) on the back of the Freewind. My experience is that once settled in it is as good as the Tourance on cold wet roads (mind you, "cold" is relative in Auckland). OTOH, the Kenda 761 I also tried was worrying on wet seal. I will buy M40/M41's or 705's again.

mitas Eo7's are a good tyre for seal & metal wet or dry & give great k's, I have run several sets of these on the 650 & 1150Gs's front & rear

I once had a set of Mitas E-08s (the Tourance equivalents). Not bad in gravel or on dry roads. They were very slippery in cold wet roads. Lasted forever, but they scared me a few times so I biffed them before I could wear them out. Are E-07s any better? I would expect them to use the same compound. I would surrender some mileage for better grip on cold wet roads.

Money no object, the E07 is my favourite rear. Combines nicely with an MT21 front.

    705's for value/money.

This is very true and E07's also have no record of early disintegration eh? Probably the only clear area I'd pick the M41 (etc.) over my E07's is for braking on wet seal, is all. Of course, you've a sight more experience than me, so it might just all be in my head. I'd be interested to hear feedback on that.

I don't believe we can get the MT21 in a 19" to suit a Freewind (or Pegaso for that matter), sadly Any suggested combo other than an E09? (I have one that will need replacing soonish.)

I was told to run the front tyre back wards as it's more stable on the metal & gives better braking, was never came enough to try

but I was in a hurry one day & didn't have time to change the new set over so droped off the tyre's & had them fitted at the bike shop, was putting the front wheel back on the bike when I saw that it was on back wards, but was heading out with mrs S so thought I'd see how it went!!!

braking on the metal shits load better & more stable wet roads the same, so now run them that way... on the seal in the dry back to dragging the pegs when in a hurry, in the wet not so low but still feel good

this is my 9th set of Eo7's milage ranges from 14500 - 23000 on the rear & one front to two rears hope this is a help

I quite like the look of the E07. I see you've had them on ya GS, what sort of mileage did you get out of them? Currently running K60's, the front is lasting well but at about 7k the rear is fairly worn in the centre - probably 2K left in it. The DL gives the rear a bit of grief if you twist the wrist...

The K60 Scout has a solid un-broken rubber strip around the centre... look as if they may wear quite well...

the milage I've quoted is the least & the most out of the rears on Eo7's I've run

the Eo7 i'm running now is at around 15000 with 4mm left... will get the exact k's when it's done

I'm riding with our 17yo & when we're out on the back roads etc... turns into a testosterone ride

Yeah, that's why I tried them. Need a warrant and worried if they're ok. BTW: plenty of meat on the sides still even though I've used every mm of them on the tar. Takaka Hill the other day and a few other twisty tar roads on by latest trip South...

    My picks are:

Mitas E07: Easy ADV rides, nothing too challenging, lots of gravel and long stints of tarmac. It has longevity and functionality pretty well sewn up, very nice on tarmac but has increased braking distances on gravel and is not generally a good performer in serious off road terrain, poor performer in wet/muddy/greasy conditions. I hardly use these nowadays, only ever for trips that clock up big tarmac K's and don't want to chew out my off road oriented tyres

Mitas E09: ADV rides with decent challenges mixed with gravel and tarmac. Fricken fantastic all round ADV tyre, great off road, great/stable/good braking distances on gravel, surprisingly smooth on tarmac with decent longevity

Mitas C02: Challenging gnarly ADV rides / off road oriented. This is what I currently use, brilliant off road, good braking distances and very controllable at high speed on gravel, a little squirmy on tarmac (primarily the first 15% of the tyre, then it settles down). Very off road capable and fun to ride tyre. Longevity is lower but acceptable

But you are known for having a throttle switch on your bikes instead of a normal cable operated one...

when not running the EO7 the new EO9 Darkar is on

handles well off road, metal & well behaved on the seal

A bit over priced for the amount of k's that I'm getting, but will wait for the next generation & see if they're any better, as they did with the E10's

I think you're onto it there Nordie, even when he takes his hand off the throttle it doesn't slow down

The E-09 was my favourite especially on the BIG.... untill the price went up past $160 so now the $100 shinko 244 does the biz and second hand S12 mitchy's for the rough stuff
