Yeah, I like the AC 10's to. Did chunk up a bit on the rear on the BRP. Rear did not last very long but they work really well on the 450 exc. The BRP is hard on tyres. The trails around Nelson are quite a hard rocky surface though. It might be a bit softer where you are and that would help.

Drifting through the twisties on the seal 2up wasnt really what we required of a tyre.
Oh , and the bloody things last too long leaving you with the dilema of... stay safe and get rid of it ...or be a miser and extract all the life threatening $$s out of it.

i gave them a good work out today, absolutely magnificant in the gravel and clay the front stayed true and the back got chewed
But man they are f@cking scary on the wet seal

    I was running both EO7 & EO9
EO7 is a good all round tyre in the wet & dry not flash on wet clay I got 22748 k's out of my last EO7 80% of that would have been HW (went a bit square) as i was commuting from 12 to 15 hundred K's a week then there was riding for fun

have been running an EO9 over summer as i was doing a fear bit of off road (no tracks) swaping it now & then with a road tyre have got approx 7500k's 3/4 worn great off road & dry seal tends to let go in the wet

only real set back is that they only do a 140/70 17 for the rear & we run 150/70 front is slightly smaller to but the bike still handled ok

    hope it helps

are you coming to the BM this year?

Well I just ordered a set of Shinko 705's for the T/A today: 130/80/17 & 90/90/21. I commute every day into Welly so will be interesting to see how they wear on something heavier than Nordie Boy's DR650!

    Will keep you posted!
    Cheers, Dave

    Cheers R

I brought a 1/3 worn D908RR back from Aus with my 990 last year. I decided last week that I'd better put it on since the Scorp is crap on wet grass. I've clocked up near another 1000km on it and attached a few pics of before and after - it hasn't worn too badly, I think. I rode with a fair bit of gear strapped highish on the top plate & no saddle bags, so I wasn't pushing it. Day 1 - I took a late afternoon/ evening look at the first part of the MMMM ride (north to south) then carried on to the Desert Rd & put the bivvy up near some snow later in the night. Day 2 Ohakune/ Tamaranui/ BoP coast. Wet/near icy roads, fog, slick dirt. New Conti TCK80 on the front.

My first thoughts after initially riding with the D908RR were, oh, that's right, I feels like it's tucking under a bit when cornering - sort of like the start of putting it into a slide. A function of the 140/80 profile compared to the standard 150/70 ( I think that means the D9080RR is 1.2 cm taller and 1cm narrower)

It felt pretty good on the road. i.e. I had a bit of confidence in the wet with it (but only a bit, probably because of the high CoG ). On the wet dirt I had a couple of long quickish straight road slides in the night which I thought may end badly but I came through them OK (with the 'ol ticker ticking a little faster!). On the dry seal it's not a problem but it will obviously slide easier than the Scorpions.

It's obviously a bit noisier than the Scorpions but not dramatically. It felt a bit vague but that could have been a combination of the movement of the knobs and the carcass moving around with the extra weight and about ~33psi (I had ~35psi in the front, I think).

All in all I'd buy one again but I've got my fresh TKC80 for the MMMM ride and I'm very keen to find a cheaper tyre that performs well on the 990s !

Apologies for the pics: I've just had a shit of a time trying to figure out how to upload them now and I've ended up with some here that I don't want and couldn't upload some I did want . Not easy like other sites... Anyway, the ones with the tyre on the rim are after last week and the ones without the rim are prior to fitting the tyre ( = about 1000km use) .

    Cheers

I'm not sure if this has been covered and i'm not going to wade through 84 pages to look but has anyone had experience with the Karoo T 21" fronts. I used the tube type Karoo's fronts in Alaska and thought they were quite good and am looking at the karoo T tubeliss 21" for the GS. The pics show it as a totally different looking tyre though.
