Wind, rain, no drama - thanks KB!

    Well,

I rode in to Wellington this morning. Weather wasn't too bad. Light wind, overcast.

Ride home this evening was another story! Strongest wind I had ever ridden in (poor wee GN did like to make the most of its lane...) and some rain for good measure - the heaviest I had ever ridden in.

So, I would like to say thanks to all the people who have offered helpful advice for riding in adverse conditions that I have read and that help me get home without falling, sliding (not too much, anyway) or otherwise tipping over.

Especially thanks for the "No one likes the wind" thread - good tips in there about dealing with gusty wind, which I put to good use today.

Yeah, so that's all. Thanks everybody.

    That weather is character building.

Now you've sussed the adverse weather conditions threads, have you checked out the threads on stoppies?

Well done on the bravery Apteryx. I also feel that the weather tends to harden Wellington bikers quite well. You learn to deal with wind and rain really fast, and for some reason courier road rage too.
As long as you don't try anything too Valentino Rossi styles GN's are pretty stable lil bikes and reliable to boot.

Ahh Wellington. It certainly teaches you to appreciate the good days.

Good to see that you weren't put off by the wind and rain (man it bucketed down when I was going up the Gorge). Just remember to loosen the death grip on the bars, be gentle on the throttle, brakes, clutch, etc, and pray. (Well relax actually).

Nothing like a good wind to make a man out of you....the feeling of riding in a straight line , whilst leant over on a 45 degree angle... hoping that the wind doesnt suddenly drop off and send you across 3 lanes of traffic and in to the armco.

No shame in that mate! I have been known to leave the bike parked up at home and taken the bus instead... Better to be safe than sorry!

Twas an interesting ride home last night. The traffic was real heavy from the terrace tunnel to the flyover.
Still prefer lane splitting on the bike to sitting in the queues in the cage.
I think tonight should be interesting again. Gale force northerlies forcast.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

The ride home last night was definatly interesting! Biggest Rain drops Ive been in so far! Went right through the gloves as if they were not there. I am glad I scotch guarded the gear! And it was the first ride since I had the bike fixed.
