Car without lights does not see person crossing road = injured person

Car without lights does not see other car until late, possibly parked car and swerves onto otherside of road and hits another car or motorcycle = bad accident / injury

I dont get this - dont you look at your speedo? Everytime I see a car driving at night with no lights on, I wonder if they ever look at their dash. Never think to check the cars temperature, the amount of gas remaining, how fast you are going? Pretty hard to read the dash when the headlights are off because not only are your dashboard lights off, but also most cars have the gauges recessed so that even the street lamps wont shine on them.

Driving with no headlights is one thing but for God's sake people, make sure you check how fast you are going. SPEED KILLS - didn't you know?

my speedo/rev counter doesnt light up, and theres no light on the dash to say light on/off, cept for the one the one that only comes on when im using full beam. and the way the weather is right now, i stay in 4th [which struggles at 60k, but runs nice at 50k] and watch the revs [theres enough street light to see speedo and rev counter, plus i use vibration] i rode for 5 weeks with no speedo, so learned to use vibration for speed when travelling at night, and how to read revs for travelling out of town. my other dash lights light up reguardless of headlight being on or not. [gears, indiblinkers etc]

edit...ive also jumped on without my lid....but have realised the bike sounded a little too good and then had to work out why, lol.
