As a father of two daughters, and a son, I would want to cause serious harm, in a fitting way....eg.....

A tube up the arse, poke razor wire up there, remove the tube, then remove the razor wire.

I think in reality, if anyone did anything to my kids, I'd be sitting across the road from the court house and just shoot the fucker in the head on his way in.

Perhaps for these people we could invoke a combination of old methods, castration and deportation. Not our problem where they end up, but don't let them back here.

Well, that explains it ALL then - family history of it, means they had no self-control or will to do otherwise. What's the bet they had a deprived childhood - no Play Station or pokies?

I like SPman's idea - women, PMT and knives - hell, they probably wouldn't even need the knives!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Ok I am all in favour of the death penalty as a principal, however perhaps we should ask Arthur Allan Thomas as well for his view before we pass the law.

Send them on Hard Labour in war-torn countries where we go as PeaceKeepers.

Either they survive to go to another war place, or die killed, or commit crime and get death/life sentences.

They'll die doing something good for others.

The guy who was convicted for the murder of Harvey and Janet Crew and was finally acquitted after many retrials and about 11 yrs (if memeory is correct) inside.

But you could also include a few others. Lindy Chamberlain , David Bain, Peter Ellis (though not murder), or Scot Watson. The last 3 were all convicted on what I (and many others) feel could be considered very flimsy evidence.

My father in law served 9 months for beating the shit out of the arsehole who molested my ex as an 8-year-old, leaving her with massive bruising around her neck where he tried to kill her but wasn't successful as the noise woke the rest of the family up.

    I vote vigilantism.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I think it's a long term plan... which likely means the pollies don;t have the ability to make it happen.

    1) Stop the kids from doing the small stuff. You do somethign bad - you get busted. Broken windows policy as la Juliani in NYC is what I have in mind
    2) Lock the bad bastards up... some of them for keeps. It pains me to say that because I am all for correction of a person where possible... but some of the, so maybe if they get a decent sentence (like 20 years) first time up, then a life sentence after that...?

With no role models, and the police and public suitably empowered with the "kick in the pants" mentality kids don't go wrong, so big kids don;t go really wrong.

Too much PC and lenience these days. The cops have less rights and abilities than the crims... they also have less numbers. As a member of the public I'm so confused about what I can and can not do to assist it's not funny.

Too many rules, too much leniency, too much "understanding", and not enough accountability. Take the bad bastards out of circulation... and have a crime free generation... that'd change things.

The answer is simple eugenics - everone is sterilised at birth (reversible at later date) and only given the option to breed when they are shown to be capable parents.
As Fascist dictator of this country I would implement this.

Well a lot of creative suggestions and one that provided a rather - um - interesting insight into areas that I really didn't know even existed...

Look, the desire for revenge is a part of us all but i see no need for cruelty, I think that just traumatises the initial victim even more as they will feel some guilt about it. (or be made to by some)

I'm more for a quiet clinical end if required BUT.....

One thing is for sure - reasonable doubt must have a place. In a lot of these cases there is NO DOUBT at all and thats the difference. Personally, in many ways I consider rape etc a far worse crime than murder and perople that just don't care how many lives they scar and ruin for their own selfish pleasure are really dangerous and in my limited experience take no responsibility for what they have done.

How are these poor people ever going to deal with this. That young girl tied up in the back seat while her older sister gets raped? Sorry - forget arthur allan thomas - this turkey crossed the line and it was a great big bold one with circles and arrows highlighted in neon and if he could not see it then too bad...

Ah crap - I dunno.... That poor family (and others) must be torn apart by this. I wonder how they are doing? damn...
