Advice needed for next bike purchase

Can anyone help to identify known problems with the following bikes please:
    TL1000s
    TL1000r
    SV1000
z1000 (apart from it being ugly)
    Hayabusa

    Thanks

They're all ugly except for the Z1000.

Rear Damper on TL1000S sux. Could probably do with a steering damper if you are incapable of reading feedback from the bike.

    Hayabusa will eat your License.

SV1000 Makes some people sleepy. I like it. Probably not a recommendation.

TL1000R Is cool , but huge.

    >known problems..

4 out of 5 of them are made by suzuki...

Should make the choice fairly easy.

yes...tls rear damper is shit...a hell of alot of them now have ohlins rear shocks in the second hand market though!!!

next...I'ld buy a TLs because its faster in every way than a TLR except top speed!!! and thats only marginail...who gives a shit anyway....you ride around with the throttle pinned all the time??? the TLS is lighter...better handling...does easyier wheelies....and it a fucking hoot to ride..in a straight line its faster...and around corners..all my most memorable rides were on my old Tl1000s those bikes rock!!
a SV1000 is a piss poor watered down TLs...dispite the rear damper the TLs will out handle and out ride a SV1000 anyday any where!!!
I wouldn't have a clue about the z1000...but I think ya either love it or hate it when it comes to looks...as for the busa...it big....don't go round corners...but you have some serious power and bragging rights at the pub...and its alos got to be one of the ugliest bikes of all time IMO...

Last thing I'll say is....I regret selling my TLs !!!! should hav kept it and got the gixxer aswell...

TL1000s...rear damper sux but real easy to get rid of,they all have a sterring damper so not a concern, frame has been known to crack around rear damper mount.has been fixed by suzuki by way of a new frame in the past ..not sure if thats an option these days.great motor strong as and in my ones case reliable as hell, the RvS thing has been going on for years..i have ridden both and imho the R feels a hell of alot heavier than the 10kg more than the S that it is.

TL1000s has a reputation for being a widow maker, shakey head and all that, but they were recalled and a damper fitted. Besides, you try riding a GSXR1000 without a damper, I bet that's a bundle of laughs too.

SV is (obviously) better looking (arguably) than the TL, doesn't look like something from the 90's, but that's no surprise either. 300 changes to the TL motor for the SV, including the injection system, makes for a better responding motor with more power where it counts (unless you know somewhere to keep the throttle pinned to stop full time?). The rags seem to think it's a superior handling bike to the TL series, but what would they know... If you read reviews on the Falco/VTR/SV ranges, they consider the handling of each to be a much of a muchness thing (much like the CBR/GSXR/R1 comparisons).

TLs are a great bike though, but there's of course one big thing counting against them... age. They're old, and for $12,500 you can have a brand new SVS with a factory warrranty, it's really a no brainer. Cans are compulsory, and your dealer can remap them quickly and easily with no fuss. That puts you shy of the TLs power still, but not much, and seeing as the ports have an improved design and the valves are 4mm smaller, you get all the benefits associated with improved port air velocity.

I think poos has a reasonably biased opinion in some regards, I've seen some extremely well hussled Busas make excellet progress through twisty sections of road. As for his views on the TL, it appears if some fond memories cloud his judgement.

    As far as your original question;
    - TLs are old, and have all the problems associated with age (98tls outlines their known faults above). The TLR could do with less weight, but hey, what bike couldn't?
    - SVS are ok, but they're a little thing on finish (imho), and due to be replaced by the SV1200 (still a rumour, but the SB class is going 1200, and all the other manufacturers have similar rumours surrounding their 1000cc twin ranges also). Finish isn't a problem if you're not neglectful though
    - Z1000, whoever heard of bad 4 cyl kwaka inline four? Great heritage, I imagine the motor is well bullet proof. Styling is a personal thing, and purely up to you
    - Hard to say bad things about a busa. Wouldn't buy a new one though, it's a 90s bike, and I'm guessing very very close to retirement... I'd bet a dollar that a new trick one is coming very soon now

    well i don;t like twins,

the busa is an awsome machine, pulls like a train, handles bloody well.

Dingdong man just ride them all and see what suits you the best.

I think the z1000 might look a little small with you on it tho

    Thumbs up

    TLs cause they rock

Yep they have got a few niggles, but that is how you get to know a bike and make it your own.

Maybe the bus if I was carrying a pillion all the time.

Yep I kept it really clean. hehehe

I would reccomend the SV1000. I have ridden with Blacksheep a few times, those things are awesome!!!!, even though its a suzuki.

no way dude...not wanna knock ya coz your a good cunt...but I had had a demo sv1000 out for 3days while I still owned my TLs and there is a very noticable drop in power every where compared to the TLs...it was smoother though...if you wacked on the throttle on a SV it took a second or so to start making serious progress at any rev's...do the same on a TLs...and its like hello were off!!!! but your right they did make changes and lots of them...most of them to meet euro2 emissions in the motor.

without sounding arrogent...Poo's probaly rides a hell of alot faster than 99% of busa riders so...the 2 times I've riden them...handling to me was one hell of a issue...or the lack of it!
but for other riders...yeah...could be absaloutly fine handling bike I suppose...

umm....your not biased being a SV nut are ya?...lmao
