Motorad (Wellington) did the "kill switch" thing to me after my first service. I never use the damn thing and couldn't work out why the bloody bike wouldn't start after I had just paid a small mortgage for a service! Thankfully I worked it out before going back inside to complain.

Also forgot the petrol tap when I was going for my full licence. Driving tester must have wondered what I was doing riding one handed down the road with my leg stuck at right angles trying to turn the lever to on.
Why would anyone choose to drive a car!

    gee old thread

Never had a problem with the kill switch while riding, but I have managed to bump it a few times with my tank bag before starting the bike.
I finally got my knee down! …and my shoulder …and my pillion’s head.

I struck a problem when I took a M109R for a squirt, I rode out from the dealer in Palmerston North and decided to turn around half way through the Manawatu Gorge, during the ride to this point it sounded and felt to me that there was something loose under the bike rattling away so I got to my turning point and turned the bike off.
I looked the bike over and could'nt see anything loose, so I thought "right lets get this thing back before in falls apart on me". Key on, hit the starter button, nada, not a thing happens, hmm, checking the key position, kill switch, stand is up, in neutral, after about 10 minutes i'm stumped after wiggling everything and turning it off and on several times incase of a shitty connection and so forth.
Time to call the dealer I'm thinking to myself I bet this is really simple but I just can't figure it out....
Just before I get my cell blower out to call the dealer for some reason I pulled the clutch in and hit the starter an viola! Into life it burst , bloody stupid American laws!!

Ummm...not wanting to trump everyone but...try hitting the switch on the Place De La Concorde, Paris and having to paddle across three lanes of peak hour traffic to reach safety.
To make matters even more interesting there are no lanes as such, they're really virtual lanes.

I've done exactly that before on the motorway. Was cruising along and I reached over to scratch my right hand but clipped the kill switch on the way over, bike slowly died as I rolled over to the left to see whats up.
