    Thumbs up Animal Control

Well this weekend Sam and I did another one of our "Good deeds for the day".

Yesterday (Sunday) morning Sam's family were heading home (thank god) at about 9am after staying for the weekend, and as they were leaving Sam's dad goes "tell your neighbors to move their dog so I can move the car".

Our neighbors don't have a dog... and surely enough laying on the driveway was a big black rotwieler (sp).

Sam's family leaves as the dog scatters when he starts the car... After they've left this dog is wondering around our garden and Sam and I are thinking... "hmmm... should we?"

So we start to wonder down the driveway towards the dog and from the neighbors driveway another rotwieler appears, a male one. The male one starts growling at us before we even get off the deck... and I'm thinking "Um... lets just call animal control and stay inside".

The second dog (the one we saw first - a female) then comes running towards us, the second dog (male) is still growing at us and I'm now thinking "oh shit, if it gets agro we won't make it inside before it reaches us".

The female dog gets to us... and it's little tail is wagging away, so Sam and I are patting it and keeping an eye on the growling male. We walk down to the road and look around, no sign of anyone with dog leads or anything... strange...

So we walk back to the house always keeping an eye on the still growling male who is keeping his distance but following us because the female dog is with us. So we decide to call Animal Control and advise them that there are two potentially dangerous dogs wondering around near a main road (Onewa Rd) with no sight of the owner anywhere... As I walk inside to get my phone the female dog rushes inside with me and jumps onto the couch (trained well... p/t) and the male stands just off the deck steps still growling at us...

Call up Animal Control (well had to call 018, then North Shore City Council... then finally get the number for Animal Control... on hold for about 5 minutes...) And finally get through... tell the chick about the rotty's, no owner, main road, aggressive male and she says "do you have anything to tie them up with?" WTF?

She says to look after them for about 20 minutes while she sees where the animal control officers are at... and then she'll call us back...

So Sam and I decide if we stay on the deck, the female will stay close to us and the male will in turn stay close to the female... Smart idea yes? no not really.

We get some water because they are panting like hell, the female drinks all the water, fill it up and then the male jumps onto the deck (and its a small deck), cornering Sam and I on the side AWAY from the door... and stands there growling at us... drink... growls some more... drinks, crouches down and continues growling...

Phone rings and Animal Control lady advises us that dog control is about 35-40 minutes away, but they may know who the owners are as 2 rottys were reported missing about 2 hours previously, so she'll try call them... have we tied the dogs up yet? no you dumb bitch!

She calls back again 10 minutes later and advises the dogs owners are on thier way, and thanks for our service we can now untie the dogs... WTF told you already we havn't tied them up...

Owners show up and male dogs gets even more agro (at least its protective towards its owners and female). They apologise about it, thank us and take the dogs (without leads) and leave...

Turns out the dogs had got out their "electric fenced" garden near Verrans Corner, then were spotted by other causious citizens near Chelsey Sugar reserve... then by us on Onewa Rd... what a mission those 2 rottys went on...

At least they didn't attack anyone or get hit by a car...
I'm not a complete idiot... some pieces are missing

he was better looking than the female one, nice shiney black coat, looked younger than the female...

The female looked dirty and old... smelled funky too...

I like Rottys, we used to have one back home, trained to kill (reason why I was scared of the male one... I know what they are capable of).

    I hate "viscious" dogs.

I was attacked some years ago now when doing my paper run by 2 black dogs, 1 male and 1 female.

The other day the neighbours dogs came running when I went outside to the bike the other day. I tell ya, those dogs are lucky i put my gear on outside - if i had had it on it would have been the dogs that needed to worry about being attacked

Intead I unlocked the front door (fumble in pocket for keys thinking why the hell did i lock it) and went inside and watched out the window incase they decided to attack our dog (a poorly trained but kind old thing) - they just fucked off and went home and i hoped on the bike and rode away.

Understandable... but Sam and I are both dog lovers (no comments ) and we've both been attacked in the past (both as kids, neither were serious enough to leave injuries), but we both knew the risks in helping the dogs. Our main thoughts were:

    a) they could get hit by a car (very likely on Onewa Rd)
    b) they could attack someone

So we thought by keeping them in our garden (which has no fence) that eliminates both problems and only puts us at risk.

We may have done things differently if both dogs had been agro, but luckly for us (and possibly the dogs) the female was nice and friendly and the male was protective enough to stay close to the female, but scared enough (if scared is the right word... maybe causious) to keep its distance from us.

Stupid dogs... Hell If I saw a dog around my house looking half agressive, I would get inside as quickly as I can, lock the doors barricate the glasses than try to ring for emergency services, failing that I would need to arm myself with fire-extinguisher, etc, prepare for the worst and try to ring a friend with some guns for help.....

Damn it I need to get my own guns, this bloody place is too dangerous.
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

Of course. However, I can't speak for the rest of you
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Another good reason why every house in the country should have an AKM and 400 rounds in a safe.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

why? the dogs didn't do anything wrong... the owners are the ones in the wrong for not making sure their dogs were in a secure location...
