Who else has read up on the Rusty's 50th ride?

Sounds brilliant -- five days to get yourself in a photo with a road marking sign of State Highways 1 through 50. I reckon I've got the optimal route sussed... However time off work may be a problem. Fingers crossed...

I know of at least 5 from Wgtn are considering it (most are on this site). You realise it's actually 4 days and not 5...

Four days!! Yikes -- five was going to be tough. The South Island is comparatively easy -- just a strop down to Alexandra and back. But the North Island takes a fair bit of traversing -- Paihia, Wairoa and New Plymouth (up both sides and down the middle). Four days means the Bluebridge and not the Interislander... Hmmm, most interesting...

It's 100 hours so slightly over 4 days, you think it's 5 becuase it runs from Mon -> Fri.

Why not the Interislander ?? I would of thought that'd be better as the Bluebridge has less sailings and the last thing you want to do is be stuck on the dock for 3 hours waiting for the 2pm sailing.

The starttime on Monday has been changed to 8am (and therefore finish is an hour earlier as well, 12noon Friday).

Anyone thinking of doing this ride may want to consider starting from the South Island. Partly to spread the load on the number of bikes trying to get across on Monday morning but also because the prior Sunday is the Port Nelson races.
