I heard about some american radar jammer years ago that worked, and everything else that didn't work. Story I heard was that because the jammer worked it was therefore illegal and so they stopped making it. That was back in the K band days. Ka I gather is a different story as suggested by others here.

That link to that website was informative... So I'm buying a Blinder next, aye? Considering I've never run a radar detector on a bike, and I've never had a speeding ticket on a bike. And bugger me, I've never obeyed the speed limit on a bike. Where's the logic in that? I think I'll just stick with the tried and true, Version 1.0 Eyeballs, backed up by Homemade Flexible Right Wrist.

Just a diff freq, the thing that makes it hard is good radars now operate over a few different frequencies within Ka so you would have to jam a few or have a flexble jammer that could freq hop

Build a cage around your bike made of ferrous metal. Hey presto, a Faraday Cage. It'd look like this, and be good for fk all. It's a BMW C-1: http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcbmw/mcphotos/c1-1.jpg

Then on top of that there is no doubt some legislation regarding radio transmitters. If I have the time I'll look it up.
Radio transmission reg's don't come into it (but you are right, I guess, that they technically could) - it is specifically unlawful to operate equipment that interferes with the man's detection equipment. Detectors are legal as they do not interfere.

The reason radar jammers are illegal is that the power required to jam Police radar is in excess of the 1 watt (?) that you may transmit without a licence. You could apply for a licence for a 5 or 10 watt Ka band transmitter, but I don't think you'd get approval somehow.
The other issue is the difficulty of building a jammer that will jam the whole Ka band. This is a much wider freq band than K or X bands. It can be done, but the cost may be prohibitive.
Laser jammers are legal as they are not RF transmitters, they transmit light.

For those that currently have laser jammers ........

How many times (if Any) have they saved you from a ticket?

I was looking at getting one but i was talked out of by people telling me that the NZ Police still use RADAR Guns rather than LASER Guns.

ROFL then tell them that you were speeding to save a town from a taniwha that the town has payed you 50 000 nzd to get rid of, and if you dont get there before the moon reaches a certain postion you'r efforts will be in vain. hehe

Or tell them it's a tribal custom and that you have ridden at 200+km/h every sunday for the past 2000 years, who are these white pigs to tell you it's against their white mans law.

New police guns can detect if you have an active radar jammer....

Those Moa's used to go!!! Handling was pretty good in the wet as well!
Just a shame that they were all crashed by young hoons and spare parts couldn't be sourced. (sauced?)

I've lost count, it's saved me far more than the jammer cost. Our cops don't have handheld radar, only Stalker and Pro laser.
